Action fans have been eating well over the last few years thanks to multiple hits from the likes of Netflix and Prime Video, the continued efforts of Keanu Reeves’ John Wick and genre icon Jason Statham, newly emerging talent like Dev Patel in Monkey Man, and more. Now, a new trailer for the upcoming action thriller One Spoon of Chocolate is sure to have action fans salivating.
You may not have heard of One Spoon of Chocolate before, but you better believe you won’t forget it once you’ve seen the footage and read the details. Written, directed, and produced by Wu-Tang Clan icon RZA
, who himself has starred in action fare like The Man with the Iron Fists and Nobody (as well as its upcoming sequel, Nobody 2), One Spoon of Chocolate finds Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse actor Shameik Moore
taking the lead as an ex-soldier who is released from prison after being convicted a crime he didn’t commit. Settling down in a small town, he ends up finding love and more trouble that maybe even he can handle.

The 2025 action thriller follows an aged assassin who finds herself the target as she is thrust into a deadly game of deception.
The rest of the cast includes Blair Underwood, RJ Cyler, Paris Jackson, Emyri Crutchfield, Michael Harney, and Harry Goodwins, and you can check out both the trailer and the official synopsis for One Spoon of Chocolate below.
“After serving his country in the Army, Unique (Shameik Moore) was falsely accused of assault and sent to prison. Now that his sentence is over, Unique sets up shop in Ohio to restart his life, linking up with his only surviving relative Ramsey (RJ Cyler). There’s something insidious happening in this town, though, via its racist sheriff and his crew of similarly bigoted acolytes, all of whom have a knack for violence and share a gruesome secret pertaining to missing young Black men. When they set their sights on Unique and turn his life upside down, the former soldier has no choice but to bring the ruckus down on the sheriff and his goons. Hell hath no fury like a veteran scorned (and armed with a sword).”
‘One Spoon of Chocolate’ Has Been Hailed as a “Brutal Action Throwback”
One Spoon of Chocolate does not yet have a wide release but is scheduled to debut at the 2025 Tribeca Festival next month on June 8. Tribeca programmer Matt Barone has teased what audiences and action fans can expect from the movie, promising that it will deliver a brutal action throwback.
“Tapping into his own teen years spent in Ohio, Wu-Tang Clan mastermind and all-around badass RZA combines the deeply personal with the unabashedly exploitation-minded for One Spoon of Chocolate, a brutal action throwback with plenty on its mind beyond just cracked skulls and severed limbs — although there’s a delightful surplus of both on display here.”
One Spoon of Chocolate will no doubt remind many of Netflix’s recent action thriller hit, Rebel Ridge, which also follows a former soldier who finds himself going up against corrupt law enforcement in a small town. Here’s hoping that One Spoon of Chocolate can find the same success. Based on what we’ve seen so far, it certainly deserves to.
