‘Paris Has Fallen’ Gets New Hulu Trailer & Streaming Date for U.S.

After originally debuting earlier this year in the U.K., Paris Has Fallen Season 1 is heading to Hulu this year, and it just got an action-packed trailer to go along with it. The spinoff to Gerard Butler’s beloved Fallen action franchise received rave reviews when the eight-episode season premiered in September, but now Hulu subscribers will get access to the series next month. Additionally, they can get their first look at the villain, played by Mission Impossible veteran Sean Harris.

Hulu, which will be distributing Paris Has Fallen to the U.S. audience, debuted a new trailer teasing its release on the platform on December 6. Starring Tewfik Jallab and Ritu Ary, the series follows a protection officer teaming up with an MI6 operative to stop a terrorist group led by Jacob Pearce (Harris). Paris Has Fallen has dialogue in both English and French, appealing to the worldwide viewership derived from the movie franchise. The footage is action-packed and seems to be the perfect follow-up to the Fallen films, a slightly different approach to the familiar story concept.

The cast also includes Ana Ularu, Camille Rutherford, Jérémie Covillault, Emmanuelle Bercor, and Karl Collins. Action fans already sang its praises when it premiered earlier this year, singling out the talented main cast members and exhilarating fight sequences. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel by any means, but Paris Has Fallen already has the makings of becoming another staple, underrated action show in the streaming world. Check out the official synopsis below:

“When a terrorist group led by the villainous Jacob Pearce attacks a high-profile embassy reception, with the French Minister of Defence as their target, protection officer Vincent finds himself working with street-smart MI6 operative Zara to save the day. But when events take an increasingly dark turn, Vincent and Zara soon realize that the plan extends far beyond just one politician. With suspicions that one of their colleagues in the security services is feeding information to Pearce, Vincent and Zara soon come to rely on each other more than either would have ever imagined. Increasingly isolated and with Pearce always one step ahead, can this unlikely pair stop Paris from falling to a man hell-bent on vengeance?”

Is ‘Paris Has Fallen’ Connected to the Movies?

Although Gerard Butler executive produces the show, it does not seem Paris Has Fallen shares overt connections to the movie franchise. His character does not show up in the series, unfortunately. Still, that doesn’t mean that they don’t exist in the same universe, as the show is a clear spinoff from the successful film series. That said, they do differ in some respects, as Paris Has Fallen has gotten praise for its relatively “grounded” approach compared to the originals. The dual protagonist approach also serves the small screen debut well, adding depth to the franchise and some potential new action heroes.

If you’re as excited for Den of Thieves 2 as we are, here’s what you should know.

While the TV spinoff finds its footing in the streaming world, the action franchise is still set to return to the big screen. Night Has Fallen, the fourth film starring Butler, is still expected to arrive at some point, but fans will have to wait a while. The project was expected to film in 2023 before the industry-wide union strikes have since indefinitely delayed the production. The latest sequel, Angel Has Fallen, did not shatter expectations or anything of the sort, but it still satisfied fans and those looking for some solid action on the big screen.
