Tom Cruise has finally given fans a first look at his upcoming black comedy with Oscar-winning filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu. The project has been shrouded in mystery ever since it was first announced, but the new behind-the-scenes teaser comes directly from “a rehearsal on the set.” The simple monochrome photo shows Cruise leaning against a podium with a microphone attached to it, alongside Iñárritu, who is looking in the same direction as his collaborator. The film wrapped production in May, the same month as Cruise’s swan song as IMF agent Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.
“Today, I shared the first photo taken last year during a rehearsal on the set of my new film with Alejandro G. Iñárritu,” Cruise wrote in the caption of the photo on Instagram. “Alejandro, 25 years ago I watched your first film, the classic Amores Perros. This weekend, 25 years later, I was deeply moved to have been presented the Honorary Oscar by you, my dear friend. I cannot wait to share our new film with you all next year!”
