Despite displaying a particular set of skills that would make even Liam Neeson quake in his boots and possessing the kind of charisma that the best action heroes are made of, Michael Jai White somehow remains one of the most underrated actors in the genre. Until he is given the high-profile role he has long-deserved, the actor and martial artist is back to doing what he does best – looking for trouble – in the trailer for his latest action outing.
Best recognized for roles in the likes of The Dark Knight, Spawn, Blood and Bone, Never Back Down, Black Dynamite, Arrow, and many more, Michael Jai White takes the lead in Trouble Man! which finds the action star fighting his way through baddies while attempting to find a missing R&B star.

Michael Jai White not only takes the lead on-screen in Trouble Man, he also directs and has co-written the script for the action comedy alongside Michael Stradford. The movie recently premiered at the 2025 American Black Film Festival in Miami, and while we await the first reactions, you can check out the official synopsis below.
“Jaxen, a former cop turned Atlanta PI, is hired to find missing R&B star Jahari. His investigation uncovers her disappearance is connected to a larger conspiracy, forcing him to question those around him and his own past.”
Trouble Man is due to hit U.S. theaters and VOD on August 15, 2025, and stars Method Man (Power Book II: Ghost), Gillian White (Take Back), Mike Epps (The Upshaws), Orlando Jones (Drumline) and La La Anthony (Power) alongside White. Trouble Man sees White join forces once again with Samuel Goldwyn Films following the release of the action thriller As Good as Dead, which currently has a score of 83% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and the action/Western parody Outlaw Johnny Black, which proved to be a firm fan-favorite, landing a rating of 89% on the Popcornmeter. “I am profoundly blessed and proud to serve my fanbase and help to resurrect light to the Urban Action Comedy genre!” White said in a statement about leading and helming Trouble Man.
The actor continues to deliver some of the most impressive martial arts prowess in the game, with White recently exchanging punches with fellow underrated action star and John Wick: Chapter 4 scene-stealer Scott Adkins in the action thriller sequel One More Shot. The Trouble Man lead has plenty in the pipeline following his hunt for an R&B superstar, including the likes of assassin thriller Hostile Takeover, revenge tale Father, Where Art Thou?, and the superbly titled Karate Ghost.
