Kingdom Trailer Brings Beast Wars to Netflix

Netflix has released the trailer for Transformers: War for Cybertron: Kingdom. This is set to conclude the trilogy of miniseries, which kicked off last summer when Siege debuted, which was followed by Earthrise. Now, Kingdom is set to bring the latest battle between the Autobots and Decepticons to an action-packed conclusion. And this time, the Maximals and Predacons are along for the ride. Indeed, Beasts Wars is making a comeback on the small screen this summer.

The trailer opens on a somber note. Optimus Prime looks defeated and half-dead. But he then proceeds to lay out his mission, which is to recover the precious AllSpark. His quest brings him, and the rest of the Autobots, to Earth. But it is not the Earth we know. This is seemingly an Earth from a bygone era. One without cities and people. Both the Autobots and Decepticons are in for quite the surprise when they discover that other Transformers disguised as animals are on the planet as well. We then get a collection of action shots, with Megatron laying out some more stakes as well. It does not skimp on the spectacle.

In Kingdom, the Autobots and Decepticons have crash-landed on Earth. They are confronted by two rival Cybertronian factions from a future that their conflict has created. Now the Autobots must team up with the Maximals to confront the Decepticons, who have |joined forces with the Predacons. They are in a race to find the missing AllSpark. But the Predacons are in control of the Golden Disk, a mysterious artifact that has a personal connection to Megatron and gives him a major advantage over his archenemy, Optimus Prime. The winning side will determine the fate of Cybertron’s future.

Hasbro is interested in giving Beasts Wars the spotlight after the spin-off set within the popular franchise has been dormant for a number of years. The series originally ran for three seasons between 1996 and 1999, taking place within the same continuity as the original 80s animated series. The twist in Beast Wars, not to spoil anything, is that the show actually takes place in the distant past, and not Earth’s far-off future. Aside from the characters returning in the War for Cybertron trilogy, it was recently confirmed that they will be a big part of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. The new live-action movie is set to be released next summer and will take place in the 90s.

The series is produced by Rooster Teeth and Hasbro in collaboration with Netflix. F.J. DeSanto (Transformers: Titans Return, Transformers: Power of the Primes) serves as showrunner. George Krstic (Megas XLR), Gavin Hignight (Transformers: Cyberverse) and Brandon Easton (Agent Carter, Transformers: Rescue Bots) serve as writers of the show. Transformers: War for Cybertron: Kingdom arrives on Netflix on July 29. Be sure to check out the trailer for yourself below. This news comes to us via Collider.
