Paradise City Gets Renewed for Season 2 at Amazon

Johnny Faust and the Relentless are finally making a comeback for the series’ second season! Recently on the Paradise City official Instagram page, a photo was posted revealing a painted picture of Johnny Faust and Lily Mayflower being face-to-face while making direct eye contact with each other. In the caption below, the Instagram page officially confirms that the second season will begin production in early 2022. You can also take a look at the official Paradise City Instagram post below.

Paradise City is an American musical drama television series that is currently available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The series is a direct continuation to the 2017 film American Satan. The series was created by Ash Avildsen, who also wrote and directed the original film back in 2017. The official synopsis for American Satan reads as, “A hungry young rock band drop out of college and move to Los Angeles’ Sunset Strip to chase after their dreams. However, they soon catch the dangerous attention of a sinister stranger.”

The first season of Paradise City was released on March 25, 2021. The sequel series stars Andy Biersack, Bella Throne, Olivia Culpo, Cameron Boyce, Booboo Stewart, Mark Boone Junior, Drea de Matteo, Ben Bruce, Ryan Hurst, Brooke Lyons, Rhys Coiro, Perrey Reeves, Amanda Steele, Brittany Furlan, and The Craft star Fairuza Balk. The official synopsis for Paradise City follows as, “The lives of a rock star with ties to the occult and a young rookie kid who idolizes him collide through their broken homes built by the music business. Reviews on IMDB have given the first season of Paradise City an approval rating of 6.8/10 based on a total of 1,683 reviews.

The Paradise City season 1 finale had set the stage for more upcoming drama for Simon, who is the aspiring rocker played by the late Cameron Boyce. With the series officially returning for its second season, Cameron Boyce’s role will most likely have to be recast in order for the character’s story to continue. Earlier this year, series creator Ash Avildsen told EW exclusively, “With Cameron, his character really is the heartbeat for the audience. We’re all going on this ride with him as he discovers the world as an underdog. We’ll have to find someone amazing who can hopefully carry the character.”

Ash Avildsen then adds, “I mapped out like six seasons before we even shot this, so his character, Simon, is the driving force as the story continues. So we would have to recast, and I hope audiences are emotionally prepared for that. It’s something you hope you never ever have to even think about, much less experience as a writer and director. Hopefully we get another season and we find someone that can bring the character back into the story.” Ash Avildsen remembers Cameron Boyce, who unfortunately died of epilepsy back in 2019 at the age of 20, as “the epitome of a superstar: professional, kind, charismatic, and loving.”

“You couldn’t be in a bad mood when he was in the room,” he says.” He had this infectious energy to him. The best word I have to describe him is magical. He made you excited to be in the room. No matter what we asked of him, he was always a team player. And his performance really speaks for itself.”

With no further details pertaining to the second season of Paradise City as of yet, hopefully fans will just have to wait a little longer for the next update to be announced. The production for the second season of Paradise City will begin sometime in early 2022, while all eight episodes of the first season are currently available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video. “Rock & roll is where God and the Devil shake hands.”
