Grace and Frankie Will Complete the Trifecta with Dolly Parton in the Final Season

Fans of the Netflix series Grace and Frankie, are you sitting down? I’ll wait… Ok. Dolly Parton is coming to the beach house!!! Finally! I’ll try to refrain from exclamation points, but I can’t make any promises. As the Netflix show is winding down, we thought all hope was lost to have our trifecta reuniting. Netflix has finally got Dolly Parton to punch in and make our 9 to 5 dreams come true. If they wrangle Dabney Coleman from Yellowstone for a cameo, we might need to call me a doctor. If Dolly sings?! Please make a donation to your favorite charity in lieu of sending flowers; I’m coming, Elizabeth! (Sanford and Son, come on.)

Netflix made the announcement via Twitter this afternoon, and well, the whole Grace and Frankiverse (We can have a -verse!) went bananas. They captioned (with three exclamation points, for the record), “It’s finally happening: Dolly Parton will appear in the seventh and final season of Grace and Frankie!!!”

Grace and Frankie has had seven glorious seasons. While we are all squealing over the reunion of the legendary trio, it goes without saying that the entire cast shines in roles that seemed to have been written for them Cinderella-slipper-style. The evolution of the relationship between Jane Fonda’s character Grace and Lily Tomlin’s Frankie was masterfully written weaving the laughs seamlessly with heavy topics like aging, infidelity, even death, with the message of never giving up being the through line.

Martin Sheen’s Robert and Sam Waterston’s Sol finally breaking out of the web of lies to live their lives together at all costs is inspiring, while still being hysterical. If you haven’t already fallen in love with June Diane Raphael from her podcast or her body of work, this is where it’s going to happen. Brianna’s brutal honesty with the people she loves is admired. She’s cruel and fragile, and we adore her. Brooklyn Decker as Mallory, our voice of reason amongst the chaos, shows us it’s ok to shake that Etch A Sketch and start again when things don’t work out.

And the brothers Bergstein, Coyote, portrayed by Ethan Embry (The Walking Dead) and Nwabudike, Bud for short, played by Baron Vaughn (Bruce Campbell’s The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.) have a relationship that can convince anyone no matter how different you and your siblings may be, there is a path that can be found where you can meet in the middle. Ethan Embry’s performance of Coyote navigating new sobriety is, again, uplifting and uproarious. Baron Vaughn’s Bud is holding on just a little too tightly, but he learns to let his hair down in the end.

We also enjoyed a wealth up knock-out guest stars playing in the Grace and Frankiverse including Ernie Hudson, Lisa Kudrow, Peter Gallagher, Craig T. Nelson, Talia Shire, Michael McKean, Sam Elliott, the list goes on. Now we have our Dolly. Grace and Frankie is on Netflix, waiting for you.
