‘s virus will heavily influence Season 4, with a crossover hinting at what’s to come.

The Boys Season 4 is complete and ready to go, and there’s an official trailer and release date to prove it. In Season Four, the world is on the brink. Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to the Oval Office and under the muscly thumb of Homelander, who is consolidating his power. Butcher, with only months to live, has lost Becca’s son and his job as The Boys’ leader. The rest of the team are fed up with his lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they have to find a way to work together and save the world before it’s too late. Watch the trailer above.

When news that the series was completely finished, edited, and produced came about, some fans were frustrated at having to wait two months to see it. Showrunner Eric Kripke has responded to fan complaints over the June release of the new season of Prime Video’s comic book series, just days after announcing that it is “completely, totally, absolutely done” in early April.

Fans have been waiting patiently for The Boys to return to Prime Video. Kripke finally confirmed that as of April 10, the new episodes are all finished and ready to go out into the world…at least they would be if it wasn’t for one small thing – foreign language dubs and formatting. After announcing the completion of the new season, fans began asking Kripke why the new episodes were not being released now if they are all done. In response, he said:

“For everyone asking why we can’t release it right away: now Amazon needs to dub the show in dozens of languages, different countries need different formats, on and on. It’s what happens when you drop the show globally at once. That’ll take ‘em right up to June 13.”

Eric Kripke Teased What to Expect from The Boys Season 4

The Boys Season 4 will be heavily influenced by the revelations of spin-off series Gen V. In the finale of the companion show, the virus that plays a pivotal role in that story found its way into The Boys narrative by way of Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher and Antony Starr’s Homelander, who both turned up for cameos. Previously, Kripke explained how this was the best way to make the virus a big part of Season 4 of the flagship series. He said:

“For Butcher, by the time they were making the finale, we were pretty deep into breaking Season 4.
We knew that we wanted that virus to be a pretty big part of Season 4
, and we knew that we wanted Butcher to be aware of it. It seems crazy that he wouldn’t be aware of it.
It became kind of tricky, because how do we show that he knows about it without it just being dialogue?

“This idea came up that it probably shouldn’t even happen in The Boys, it should happen in Gen V. The value of having the [two shows’ writers] rooms be in coordination is, our room took it to Michele and her room and said, ‘Can we put Butcher in the end, so we can show that he’s really hot on the tail of the virus?’ It was really cool,” continued Kripke, “because it does a nice little preamble to what’s coming next. And Karl and Ant both were willing to come in on their days off to go work on the other show. But the Homelander part was Michele’s team.”

The Boys
will return to Prime Video on July 13. All previous episodes, and the two spin-offs,
Gen V
and
The Boys Presents: Diabolical
, are available now on the platform.
