Paulina Porizkova Pens Memoir, Partying With Mr Porter In Miami, A Twiggy Doc Is In The Works, What Rebecca Taylor Did Next, And More

Paulina Porizkova’s new memoir launches today

Supermodel Paulina Porizkova’s debut book is here, and she’s not holding back when it comes to sharing memories of her treatment as a teenager in front of the camera or the behavior of male photographers. In an excerpt shared with The Cut from No Filter, which is available for purchase now, the 57-year-old writes about one of her first-ever shoots, whereby a photographer put his penis on her shoulder. “This first encounter with a penis was to be my new normal. I quickly assumed it was a part of the job, and I wasn’t wrong,” she recalls. “I long ago lost count of how many times I was greeted by a photographer in a gaping bathrobe. If it wasn’t the photographer, it was a client, or the nephew of a client, or one of the client’s friends. It happened so often it became just another day on a shoot.” She adds, “Now…it’s not lost on me that the sexualized ideal woman you saw on the covers of magazines forty years ago did not know a penis when it was literally pulled out right in front of her face. Because the ideal woman was not a woman at all. She was a girl.” The book comes out today, and Porizkova is hitting the road for the book tour immediately—check out the video below to see where she’s heading.

While both parties have not commented publicly yet on the deal, Business of Fashion writes that an official statement will likely come today.

Rebecca Taylor returns with a new brand

Rebecca Taylor, who exited her namesake brand after selling it to Vince in 2019, has debuted her new DTC label, A’Court. With a focus on feminine shirting that’s both seasonless and timeless yet modern, A’Court will produce two collections a year. Taylor, who founded the New York label that bears her name with business partner Beth Bugdaycay (who’s since co-founded celebrity-adored jewelry line FoundRae) back in 1996, had moved back to her native New Zealand with her family recently. A’Court is designed in New Zealand and made locally, in the case of its hand-crochet alpaca styles, while cotton shirts will be created in small batches in Italian family-ran factories. The first collection comprised of six pieces is avalable now, with prices starting at $345.
