  • Ben Affleck’s Batman World Imagined in The Batman Style Fan Poster

Ben Affleck was originally meant to star in what would become The Batman, and new fan art shows exactly what that could have looked like.

Fans of the Snyderverse have still never really let go of the idea of seeing the continuation of that universe. While any plans for that universe have completely died away in the last few months, that hasn’t stopped one artist imagining what Ben Affleck’s solo Batman movie poster could have looked like in the style of Matt Reeves’ The Batman.

Ben Affleck’s Batman was originally expected to get his own solo movie as part of Zack Snyder’s DCEU plan. Somewhere along the way, the “Batfleck” movie was abandoned in favour of the Robert Pattinson-led The Batman, much to the annoyance of many Snyderverse fans. Now artist Rahal Nejraoui has shared a look at what could have been with a fan poster that puts the characters of the Snyderverse, as well as Leslie Grace’s Batgirl, into The Batman’s world. Alongside the post, Nejraoui commented:

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

“What if Ben Affleck had the chance to make his Batman movie? Seriously the Batfleck movie with Deathstroke as main villain was going to be epic. A lot of missed opportunities for DC, I read the potential synopsis of the movie and the vision of Ben Affleck, very promising stuff. Wanted to pay homage to the Batfleck movie by making this fan poster inspired by Matt Reeves Batman.”

Ben Affleck Could Make A Surprise DCU Return Under James Gunn

Warner Brothers

Ben Affleck has been done with Batman on a number of occasions now, but there always seems to another reason for him to return as the Dark Knight. Following the original collapse of Zack Snyder’s universe, Affleck was said to have played Batman for the last time, with Matt Reeve’s The Batman taking over as Warner Bros. new Batman iteration. Then came Zack Snyder’s Justice League, which brought back Affleck to shoot new footage for the hugely expanded director’s cut. Following this, Affleck was then said to be playing Batman yet again in The Flash, and in the last few months he is also believed to be taking over a cameo appearance from Michael Keaton in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

So will this be the end of Affleck’s Batman run? It seems so, as following this year’s slate of DCU movies, it looks like everything is going to change, with a new younger Superman already being teased. This would suggest that other heroes may also be given an overhaul in the coming years. For Affleck though, his time in the DCU may continue in a different role.

James Gunn has already teased that he would love to have Ben Affleck in the DCU as a director at some point, and the pair have spoken about that very prospect. What that will look like and when it will happen is something that is currently unknown, but Gunn suggested they are just working out what the “right project” is and it will happen. While this means that Affleck’s upcoming appearances as Batman are now almost guaranteed to be his last, it looks like there is still plenty to come from Ben Affleck in the franchise.
