Pauly Shore Celebrates Son in Law’s Arrival on Hulu

If you’re feeling nostalgic for some early 90s comedy, you may enjoy streaming Son in Law on Hulu. The cult classic comedy, released in theaters in 1993, features Pauly Shore as a flamboyant party animal who’s brought home from college by a teenage girl to meet the family over Thanksgiving break. For Shore’s fans, the film is one of his better works and serves as a favorite for many.

Happy to see that the film is on Hulu, Shore channeled his classic Weasel persona while telling fans that the movie is streaming. Taking to social media, the actor wrote, “Son in Law is on Hulu, doodzzzzz!”

The fans are on it, posting quotes from the movie and speaking about their plans to watch it with other fans noting that they’ve already done so, multiple times even. One fan tweeted, “No other movie has ever made me laugh as much as Son in Law. never gets old!!”

Another tweet reads, “OMG!! I rushed to watch this as soon as I saw it on Hulu!! It’s such a comedy classic!! Truly a favorite from the 90s!!”

“One of THE best comedies of all time,” says someone else. “My cousin and I quote it almost daily. I don’t think people understand how heartfelt this one actually is.”

And for some people, the film’s reemergence on Hulu is bringing back some wonderful memories.

“This was the last film I saw with my grandfather at the movie theater before he past away,” writes one fan of the film. “We laughed so hard and had such a good time. Thank you for the great memory. It has a special place in my heart.”

Pauly Shore Was One of the Biggest Stars of the 90s

Buena Vista Pictures

Steve Rash directed Son in Law. The film comes from a story by Patrick J. Clifton, Susan McMartin, and Peter M. Lenkov and is written by Fax Bahr, Adam Small, and Shawn Schepps. Along with Shore, the film stars Lane Smith, Carla Gugino, Cindy Pickett, Mason Adams, Patrick Renna, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, and Flea. The movie also features a special appearance from Brendan Fraser reprising his role from Encino Man, another Shore film.

“I feel it when I go on the road,” Shore said of the nostalgia fans feel for his classic films, per Screen Rant. “When I’m touring, I feel people’s hearts because they look at me like they remember a good time. When they see me they’re like, ‘Man, Pauly Shore. We really had fun with that guy.’ And now, because of the world and what’s going on, everyone’s kind of on edge with these phones, and everyone’s kind of got this eggshell feeling around themselves. So people look at me, and they look at that time as freedom and no filter. It’s great.”

On how his movies are still appreciated by the fans, regardless of any negative reviews they’d gotten at the time, Shore added, “I mean, those movies, people can make fun of them, the industry or whatever, but they’ve been putting food on my table for years and making people happy. There is a huge audience out there that really enjoys those… It was a point in time where I hit, where MTV was the hottest thing in the world, when everyone was looking at MTV, and I was right there. I was young, and it was awesome. It was pretty cool. It was a fun run.”
