Rihanna Shares New Photo of Her Son Ahead of Oscars

Rihanna is going to the Oscars! However, her son, whose name the “Umbrella” singer and her boyfriend, A$AP Rocky, have yet to reveal, is not. On March 5, the Grammy winner shared two new photos and a video of her little one reacting to the news that he’s not going to the Oscars with his mom on Instagram.

In reality, Rihanna‘s son, who was born in May 2022, isn’t old enough to care that his mom is set to perform her Oscar-nominated song, “Lift Me Up,” from “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” during the March 12 ceremony. However, any excuse to share cute baby photos should be taken. In the first pic, the baby is pouting and looking up from his baby bed. That’s followed by a video of Rihanna’s son reacting to her music video for the Oscar-nominated song, followed by a photo of the sweet moment.

“My son when he found out his sibling is going to the Oscars and not him,” Rihanna captioned the carousel. Her son’s sibling just happens to have the advantage of not being born yet. The “Lift Me Up” singer surprised fans by announcing she’s pregnant with her second child during her 2023 Super Bowl halftime performance on Feb. 12.

The baby is due later this year, but Rihanna is likely to keep her soon-to-be second born out of the spotlight, much like she has with her first. She first shared a video of her son in December 2022 to keep the paparazzi from sharing his photos first. In a February interview with British Vogue, she opened up about feeling protective of her kids and their privacy.

“Throw me to the wolves. Do what you want with me. But he doesn’t have a say in any of this,” she said of the paparazzi. “We’ve been protecting him thus far and you don’t have any consent to be posting photos or selling photos of my child, a minor. Get the hell out of here with that.”

It’s clear that for Rihanna, nothing is more important than her kids, but sadly for her son, even she can’t sneak a baby into the Oscars.
