Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell prove that from hate to love there’s only one step in the first teaser trailer Will Gluck’s upcoming romantic comedy, Anyone But You, coming to theaters on December 22.
Enemies to lovers has become one of the most typical plots of romantic films, presenting two characters who begin a story unable to stand each other, only to end up discovering that this hatred hides a much deeper feeling: love. But Anyone But You not only explores this typical theme, but also another one that is quite familiar to fans of romantic comedies, fake dating.
In Gluck’s new film, Sweeney and Powell have a clear disdain for each other, but their complex relationship will be put to the test when they attend a wedding together, pretending to be a couple in front of their family and friends. Sony Pictures has finally released the first teaser trailer for the movie, which you can check out below along with the official synopsis and poster:
“In the film, Bea and Ben look like the perfect couple, but after an amazing first date something happens that turns their fiery hot attraction ice cold – until they find themselves unexpectedly thrust together at a destination wedding in Australia. So they do what any two mature adults would do: pretend to be a couple.”
Joining Sweeney and Powell are Alexandra Shipp, GaTa, Dermot Mulroney, Rachel Griffiths, Michelle Hurd, Bryan Brown, Darren Barnet and Hadley Robinson.

Although both have been working in the industry for a long time, both in film and television, there is no doubt that Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell’s careers are now going through their prime.
Powell got his first big break in 2003 in Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over and the series Endurance. Since that moment, he participated in several projects, including films like The Expendables 3 and Hidden Figures, or the series Scream Queens, where he played an important character. However, his real big break would only arrive in 2022, being one of the protagonists of Top Gun: Maverick, along with Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Ed Harris, Val Kilmer, Lewis Pullman, Charles Parnell, and Monica Barbaro.
This year he also starred in Richard Linklater’s latest movie, a dark comedy called Hit Man, which debuted in September at the 80th Venice International Film Festival. The film was picked up by Netflix and received mostly positive reviews.
As for Sweeney, she began her career in 2009 with the film ZMD: Zombies of Mass Destruction and in the show Heroes. She worked on a large number of projects, both in film and television, generally in small roles until 2018. That year, the actress led the cast of the Netflix teen series Everything Sucks!, in addition to joining the casts of The Handmaid’s Tale and Sharp Objects, two acclaimed and successful shows.
A year later Euphoria was released, bringing her to the peak of popularity, along with her role in The White Lotus. In 2024, Sweeney will make her superhero film debut in Madame Web, one of Sony Pictures’ upcoming Spider-Man universe films, which also stars Dakota Johnson.
