Will We See Any Other SNL Alum Join Only Murders in the Building?

Only Murders in the Building was renewed for a fourth season in October 2023, but no word yet on an expected premiere date. While plot details are being kept under wraps, we do know that the upcoming season will see the starring trio depart from their New York building and head to the city of Angels. There’s also some unfinished business to contend with, as the season 3 finale ended with the murder of Sazz Pataki (Jane Lynch), Charles’ (Martin) stunt double.

Only Murders in the Building is written and co-created by Martin and John Hoffman (Grace and Frankie). The two executive produce alongside Short, Gomez, Dan Fogelman, and Jess Rosenthal. The series has maintained an impressive cast of guests and recurring stars. Martin, Short, and Gomez have been joined by Meryl Streep, Paul Rudd, Lynch, Matthew Broderick, Mel Brooks, Tina Fey, and Nathan Lane, among others.

Another SNL alum recently discussed the idea of joining the Only Murders in the Building team: Chevy Chase. In 1986, Chase starred alongside Martin and Short in Three Amigos! During an appearance on the WTF With Marc Maron podcast, Chase shared his admiration for Martin and Short, adding:

“I hadn’t watched it [Only Murders in the Building] — maybe once, or so. They’re very successful, it’s a big success. I miss them. I mean, I wish I was doing it with them. They’re good, they’re great.”

Despite the kind words, however, Chase said he would not be reaching out to Martin and Short for a role in the series.

All three seasons of
