Min Ho Is the Best Character in ‘XO, Kitty,’ and That’s That

Don’t you just love it when an entire cast is simply awesome? First Stranger Things, then Outer Banks, and now the chronically online cast of the highly successful rom-com series XO, Kitty. Netflix has been delivering some of the best bundles of joyful actors, who are loved by fans all over the world. With the To All the Boys star, Anna Cathcart, stepping into the role of the main character, Kitty, who follows in Lara Jean’s footsteps in finding her perfect match, the nostalgic love for Cathcart is undeniable. Particularly during the first season of XO, Kitty, which was released at the beginning of 2023, Kitty was considered the best character by many, as she was depicted as this independent feminist icon, who is discovering new things and learning about herself in the process.

However, ever since Season 2 of XO, Kitty was released on January 16, the decision to choose a favorite character has become almost impossible, but there are a few characters that come really close. The first season of XO, Kitty ended with another more obvious fan-favorite, who viewers started to ship with the main character even more, and that’s Yuri. Sure, Yuri is the queen b of the beloved Netflix series, but the actual best character in XO, Kitty is Min Ho. By far. And here is why.

To be fair, the first impression of Min Ho was, well, mixed. Of course, he was immediately bestowed with the title of series hottie, but he also radiated mean boy energy. Even though Min Ho would never admit it, beneath the hard shell is a soft core, and there are a few moments when he unwillingly shows it. One major factor which proves that the guy does have a caring side, after all, is his undeniable love for his mother. He constantly makes it known how amazing she is, and how proud he is to be her son. He even uses his school breaks to travel all the way from Seoul to Los Angeles to spend quality time with her.

As opposed to his close relationship with his mother, even if he rarely sees her, he has a very difficult bond with his father. Min Ho’s family could be at the center of a movie about a dysfunctional family, because his father, in particular, is incredibly complex, in a negative sense. Min Ho has always felt left out and as though he was never good enough, as his half-siblings were always closer to their father. Feeling like a failure and less-than, Min Ho’s struggles to be vulnerable are certainly relatable to many viewers, and make it easy to understand his nonchalant behavior.

Min Ho’s Love Confession

Remember when Dae basically shut out Kitty after she managed to get into KISS and traveled all the way from America to South Korea in order to finally be with her long-distance boyfriend, but he was fake-dating another girl? Yeah, well, this is how not to treat someone. Min Ho dropped some unnecessary comments as well, but he delivered the best love confession ever. When Kitty left KISS at the end of the semester, heartbroken and thinking she wouldn’t return, Min Ho boarded the same flight, and even moved from first class to economy in order to secure a seat next to her.

Just after he surprised her, knowing that she would need a friend, he let go of all the walls he had built up throughout his life and for once spoke openly about his feelings. He revealed to her that he had fallen in love with her. This confession could have been part of one of the most romantic K-dramas ever. Even though a rollercoaster of confusion, denial, and chaos followed, Min Ho’s willingness to open up added so much more relatable depth to his character, making him even more intriguing than before.

Min Ho Always Has Kitty’s Back

Season 1 of the Netflix hit series set Min Ho and Kitty up as proper enemies, since Min Ho always made it a point to let everyone know how annoyed he was by “Covey”’s presence. Despite their initial dislike, the two were part of an enemy to friends arc, and honestly they would be able to deliver one of the best K-drama-style enemies to lovers arcs. When Kitty accidentally announced that she would cook for everyone on Chuseok, the Korean Thanksgiving, she quickly realized that she had little to no knowledge regarding traditional Korean meals. Even though he made it seem as though it was the most annoying thing ever, Min Ho stepped in and prepared an entire meal for all the guests.

In addition, when Kitty was dedicated to finding out more about her mother and her estranged family members in Seoul, Min Ho helped her retrieve or much rather steal her mom’s time capsule stored at KISS. He then even joined her, when she first showed up at her grandmother’s sister’s house, and comforted her, when she was rejected. Min Ho is clearly willing to go to great lengths in order to support Kitty, even when no one is asking him for it. He was the reason why her Korean family members ultimately gave her a chance, and he even organized a private jet to bring Margot and Kitty’s grandmother to Seoul for a reunion after their flight was canceled. Talk about grand gestures…

‘XO, Kitty’ Season 2 Ending, Explained: Who Does Kitty End Up With?

Everyone’s favorite messy queen is back for another season. Here’s how Kitty’s romantic prospects play out this time.

Min Ho Is Giving Peter Kavinsky Energy

The teasing, the calling his crush by her surname, the small gestures, the little comments? The moment when Peter and Min Ho unexpectedly met, when Kitty and Peter went to a shop to buy notebooks and sparkly pens as a gift for LJ and Min Ho did the same for his (villainous) girlfriend, Stella, has the potential to evoke goosebumps. They are so different, yet eerily similar, and Noah Centineo’s cameo as Peter in XO, Kitty helped us see that. Honestly though, who didn’t have a déjà vu during the most iconic moment in XO, Kitty, when Kitty pretends to faint on the tracks to help out Q and Min Ho runs up to her like Peter did with Lara Jean? That was the moment when everything was clear. Future couple secured. Kitty and Min Ho are endgame, Min Ho is the best character, and that’s that. XO, Kitty is available to stream on Netflix.
