Set footage of Arnold Schwarzenegger
decked out in a plush red suit and sporting a frosty white beard have made fans do a double take, as the action hero becomes Santa Claus for his upcoming festive movie. Joining forces with Reacher star Alan Ritchson for The Man with the Bag, the Amazon MGM Studios movie is expected to hit Prime Video this December, and the first look at the film has certainly set the scene for Schwarzenegger’s return to the Christmas genre for the first time in almost 30 years.
The action legend’s appearance in The Man with the Bag will bring him back to the festive market for only the second time following the 1996 comedy Jingle All the Way, and is his first big movie since 2019’s Terminator: Dark Fate. Those expecting to see Schwarzenegger with his usual muscly, stiff-jawed look will be in for a shock as he becomes buried in the white, fluffy beard and big white suit of St Nicholas.
An official synopsis for The Man With The Bag was previously released, and reads:
“When Santa’s magic bag is stolen, he turns to his naughty list to find Vance, a former thief, to help him get it back. Along with his daughter, Santa, and a group of misfit elves, Vance will have to pull off the greatest heist of his life to save Christmas.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ’90s Box Office Bomb Was Secretly Genius
‘Last Action Hero,’ one of the biggest box office bombs of the 1990s, is a clever satire and meta look at the action-adventure genre.
Behind the scenes, The Man with the Bag will be directed by Rock of Ages helmer Adam Shankman, who has also been the talent behind TV comedies such as Modern Family and Only Murders in the Building. While it is still too early to know what exactly to expect from the movie, it is fully expected to be more action-orientated than your average Santa movie.
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Alan Ritchson Will Deliver a Perfect Christmas Gift
Action movies are always popular, and as any Die Hard fan will profess (yes. It is!) there is nothing better than combining the genre with a festive setting. Will Arnie’s Santa be throwing a few punches or machine-gunning down bad guys? It is hard to tell, but it could be likely that the movie will be something closer to Dwayne Johnson’s Red One than David Harbour’s brutal Violent Night.
The pairing of Schwarzenegger and Ritchson is one that can pay dividends by bringing new and old action icons together on screen for the first time. Furthermore, both stars are dominating the world of action television, and that could translate very well when The Man with the Bag is released.
In the meantime, Schwarzenegger will be returning to Netflix this year with the second season of his hit action comedy series FUBAR, in which he plays Luke Brunner, a CIA operative who has been keeping his work a secret from his daughter, Emma (Monica Barbaro), who has been lying to him about the very same thing. It is not hard to imagine the kind of chaos that ensues when the pair are thrown into a job together. Ritchson, on the other hand, has just returned to Prime Video in Season 3 of Reacher, in which he once again embodies Lee Child’s Jack Reacher in another brutal adventure for the mercenary as he comes up against another bad guy that he will have to use more than muscle to take down.
