Emily Alyn Lind leads the cast of psychological thriller series We Were Liars.
Based on the novel of the same name by E. Lockhart, the Amazon series follows Cadence Sinclair Eastman as she spends her summer on a private island with her wealthy family and close-knit inner circle, nicknamed the Liars.
Other cast members include Esther McGregor, Joseph Zada, Caitlin FitzGerald, Mamie Gummer, Candice King, Rahul Kohli, David Morse and Wendy Crewson.
All eight episodes of the show were released on June 18, 2025.
Is We Were Liars season 2 happening?

At the time of writing, Amazon has not announced whether the series will return. The show’s fate will likely be determined in the coming weeks.
However, there is material for future seasons. A prequel novel, Family Of Liars, delves into the history of the Sinclair family, while author E. Lockhart is set to release another book in the series titled We Fell Apart in November 2025.
Have the cast said anything about a potential season 2?
Emily Alyn Lind, who plays Cadence in the series, teased at a possible storyline for season two, where she refers to her character’s role in the fire.
“The funny thing about families, Cadence’s or whatever, you might leave but you always have baggage… They come with us in a way,” she told TV Insider. “So, if you remember the scene before she leaves, or decides to go, [her grandfather] Harris gives [Cadence] an ultimatum. If you don’t stick with the family, then I’ll tell everyone what you did.
“She’s probably going to have to at some point face that.”
