Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards became the third-youngest player in NBA history to reach 10,000 career points Thursday.
The milestone bucket came on a jumper at the 6:54 mark of the fourth quarter against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He entered the matchup needing 23 points to hit 10,000.
LeBron James (23 years, 59 days) and Kevin Durant (24 years, 34 days) are the only players who were younger than Edwards (24 years, 156 days) when they reached the plateau.

“To be honest, it’s cool, but I know I’ve got a lot more to go, so it’s really nothing, for real,” Edwards told reporters postgame, according to The Associated Press. “I’m kind of sick that I got in front of Kobe (Bryant). I wished I would’ve waited like 100 days or something, but yeah, it’s all good.”
Edwards already owns the T-Wolves’ franchise record for threes and sits third on the team’s all-time scoring list behind Kevin Garnett and Karl-Anthony Towns.
The Timberwolves wound up winning 131-122. Edwards finished with 25 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds over 37 minutes.
Minnesota selected Edwards with the No. 1 overall pick in 2020. He’s blossomed into a three-time All-Star and led the club to back-to-back Western Conference finals appearances the last two seasons.
Edwards holds career highs in points (29.2), field-goal percentage (50.4%), and 3-point percentage (41.2%) across 31 appearances this season.
