From Greek Shores to Global Swimwear: Valentina Vasilatou Conscious Collections Is a Brand to Remember

Valentina Vasilatou Conscious Collections (VV Conscious Collections), the sustainable resort and swimwear brand founded by young Greek designer Valentina Vasilatou, celebrates over five years of redefining swimwear through perfect fit, circular fashion, and timeless elegance. This milestone highlights the brand’s circular fashion model through collaborations with eco-organizations, setting a precedent for sustainability in luxury swimwear.

Valentina Vasilatou’s creative vision is inspired by summers by the sea, her love of travel, and her multicultural background. Trained professionally in fashion and costume design at one of the most prestigious institutions in London, she honed both her aesthetic sensibility and technical precision.

A pivotal moment came during the Australian wildfires of 2020, so far from her home, yet impacting the planet. It inspired her to use fashion as a tool for environmental protection.

“Being unable to act from far away, the wildfires made me realize that fashion could be my way of protecting the environment, by raising awareness about environmental issues with inspiration from all over the world,” she recalls. “All my collections are a tribute to nature, with inspiration coming from creatures of our world.” As a designer, she is introducing new animal prints in the fashion world, making her mark with a conscious statement. One swimwear piece at a time, the wearer enjoys nature while simultaneously supporting its protection.

Swimwear has long been regarded as one of the most environmentally harmful garments. Yet VV Conscious Collections redefines this narrative. While wearing swimwear, people enjoy nature’s offerings. But paradoxically, they could also contribute to its harm. VV Conscious Collections turns this paradox into purpose: actively participating in ocean cleanup, helping transform plastic waste into regenerated fabrics, and aiming to reduce reliance on virgin materials. “For me, it was essential to build a brand that not only empowers women but also protects the environment that we enjoy so dearly,” Vasilatou explains.

Swimwear, deceptively small, demands extraordinary precision; even two centimeters can dramatically affect fit and silhouette. VV Conscious Collections has built its reputation on creating pieces that flatter diverse body types while remaining highly functional.

The brand’s “sur mesure” service offers bespoke swimwear tailored to each client’s exact measurements, positioning VV Conscious Collections at the helm of personalized sustainable luxury. VV Conscious Collections turns fashion back to its roots, celebrating the artistry of the designer, the intimate relationship between client and garment, and the care invested in every stitch. This approach stands in deliberate contrast to fast fashion, honoring the designer’s craft while delivering garments that are as technically precise as they are flattering, particularly crucial for swimwear, where fit and functionality are paramount.

In 2024 and 2025, VV Conscious Collections partnered with a renowned Greek designer, blending iconic 1960s-inspired prints with the brand’s signature swimwear silhouettes, a collaboration celebrated for merging contemporary vision with timeless elegance. The collaboration was showcased at prestigious resorts and fashion shows in Greece, allowing Vasilatou to influence a broader creative spectrum, a mission she continues through upcoming projects.

Mentorship is central to the brand’s mission. Vasilatou partners with Greek universities, guiding interns in design, production, sales, marketing, and events to instill creativity and ethical principles. She also teaches fashion design at one of Greece’s colleges, shaping both her own and the next generation of young, conscious designers.

Reflecting on the journey so far, Vasilatou emphasizes that the brand’s core remains steadfast: sustainability, perfect fit, craftsmanship, and empowerment. “This milestone is not just about longevity,” she says. “My ultimate goal is to prove that swimwear can be truly flattering and as respectful to the planet as it is beautiful on the body. That’s the legacy I want to build.”

VV Conscious Collections is now turning its focus to Dubai, developing a special collection that balances elegance and cultural sensitivity. Alongside this expansion, the brand continues to grow its global reach through retail partnerships and a thriving e-commerce platform. With its sixth collection on the horizon, VV Conscious Collections continues to chart a course for the future of fashion, where conscious design meets uncompromising style.
