Draymond Green Claps Back At Alperen Sengun With Fiery Response

Draymond has never been one to bite the tongue, and thus the new subject of his ire is Houston Rockets Center Alperen Sengun. Said to be in response to something—from Sengun himself, perhaps—a vague line being agued about made the original post disappear without an explanation. The image accompanying Green’s tweet showed a real-time in-game action shot with the intensity and focus that, in essence, was a perfect retort.

The fans, as expected, promptly chimed in. Warriors fans flocked to defend Draymond’s legacy; meanwhile, Rockets fans and others started bashing his style of play and the Warriors’ showing in recent playoff seasons.

An alleged “offending” comment was made by a user, “Dray and Al Horford get to play a different brand of ball for some reason.” It was about the never-ending debate of whether defenders like Green deserve to be called good or label them for dirty plays.

Clearly, that War-Rockets rivalry still burns to some actors. A Houston supporter confidently predicted, “Look out this season… Houston gunna stomp,” expressing optimism toward their young core despite last season’s playoff disappointment against Golden State.

But the Warriors’ fans weren’t having any of that. A reply featured a tone drenched in championship swagger, despite many calling last season a lost season for them: “We will sweep them in the Offs this year (if they even make it that far).”

This gave the debate another push toward Draymond’s real worth to the Warriors’ dynasty. Yet another one said: “He wouldn’t have won anything if he didn’t get lucky playing alongside two Hall of Famers. There are plenty of great defenders just as good as Dray, but they never got the recognition because they were stuck on bad teams.”

Probably the most vehement response to that was given by another fan, “You are trolling if you believe that Draymond wasn’t the reason why the Warriors are champions. I’m not even a fan of the Warriors and I know that the system they got running over there only works because of Draymond’s IQ, defense, and leadership.”

The alleged or perceived slight and subsequent motivating fuel just might have gotten re-ignited by some comments from Sengun.

The Federalist also emerged in last year’s playoff series between the two franchises. “They lucky Jalen Green was 2 packs of ass or they would blew another 3-1 lead,” retorted one commenter, referring to the inconsistent performance of Roadsters young guard.

What’s funny about this rivalry is behind the timing-the Warriors look fallible at times coming off a season, meanwhile, the Rockets are building around promising young guys like Sengun and Green. The back-and-forth feels like a gated roar to what could be a new chapter of discussion on this rivalry.

Draymond has forever played with a chip on his shoulder, and with his motivation coming from slight either real or perceived, the fire gas may have just been lit for the veteran-forward season should Sengun say anything that rubbed him the wrong way.

Moments like these are where NBA Twitter shines, capturing the passion of the fans. It´s not just a casual, “Let’s talk ball-discussion”-it’s filled with emotion, with people putting up for their guys and shading the opposing squad. This is what keeps this whole ecosystem alive throughout the year and nw even through the offseason.

At the same time, Sengun is coming off a breakout year in which he cemented himself among the best-skilled bigs in the league. That footwork, passing, and scoring ability would make any opponent develop operational anxiety; although going against Draymond Green (especially when he’s mad) is an entirely different story.

The best matchup of the Warriors-Rockets is scheduled later this season; however, these two have probably circled this date in red. That is how such exchanges seep onto the court, relieving heat that could easily brew into just another regular season game.

One thing is certain, Draymond Green continues to remain one of the NBA’s brightest polarizers. One can either be informed or uninformed-but he commanded all the attention and became the center of every conversation in the present NBA heat; maybe it is for more than that defensive versatility and basketball IQ.

If genuine animosity and rivalry between players and teams really exist, then the league is better for it. It builds storylines, creates anticipation for rivals, and offers fans some grounds to argue beside stats and standings. However simple this Draymond-Sengun rapport may seem, it is another extension of their respective narratives heading into the upcoming season.

Time will tell whether this Twitter spat will be buried on a shelf and forgotten or fuel something worthy of fighting on the floor. Right now, it is prime eating for NBA fans throughout the offseason, which is good news on its own.
