Today, Mario Nawfal made a nuclear announcement regarding the governmental expenditure of almost half A BILLION dollars on a global media machine that subtly turned people towards accepting certain artifacts of belief. Far from conspiracy stuff; hard numbers, leaked documents and receipts longer than your arm make it real.

Well, the crux? The group that most people would have never heard about: Internews Network. They claim to promote “independent journalism,” but leaked memos show that they’re basically controlling the narrative in some form in dozens of countries. With $473 million from USAID and State Department over 20 years, plus millions more from Soros, Gates, and Rockefeller foundations: now that is not funding journalism. That is buying influence industrial-scale.
Apparently, the numbers are mind-boggling. They claim they partnered with over 4,000 media outlets in 2023, produced nearly 5,000 hours of content, and reached 778 million people. This was more then two times the US population for this group able to pipe these stories! Apparently, these are actually promoted from a deserted building in California, while one of their subsidiaries pulls itself out of operations from a place in the Cayman Islands. Because nothing speaks louder about “transparent journalism” than offshore shell companies, right?
Mario’s tweet was further telling when GlennWhite1 called it “one of the most important stories of the year,” going on to note Based_Ape_Broker’s perspective, “Shut it down and make arrests!!” Anger was palpable as the realization sunk in that Canadian taxpayer money funded this monstrosity.
Tim Kensinger set the stage: “Modern-day Operation Mockingbird” – to some who do not know, ‘Mockingbird’ was the name of a CIA program that sought to manipulate the media. Jack Wyatt adds another slice by saying, “This shit got to go! Unless you’re earning back from taxpayers, how else can you defend this?”
Everywhere dark humor reigns. “FACT CHECK: FALSE – Paid for by USAID” was a surgical phrasing from MiroslavLazurk1 – which would carry a hurtful sting. Too much, arguably. Rebel Rose said she wanted her taxes back, while Krispus Attucks simply tagged it, “CIA operation mocking bird exposed.”
Most painful, though, were some international replies. Alla Schar-Ts shared a terrifying proverb from her homeland: “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.” Looking into how Internews operated in Ukraine (funding 9 out of 10 major outlets pushing pro-NATO narratives) or Kosovo (with direct funding to reporters for “positive” reports on ethnic tensions), that is hard to argue against journalistic intentions and more against psychological operation.
This is something Wayne Lee’s reply brought home: “translation – woke mind viruses have been fed/nurtured by US taxpayer for decades.” Then Chai.lens dropped the mic: “At this point, fact checks should come with a sponsored by tag and a link to the Cayman Islands office tour.”
But here is the kicker. This is not even new; Señator Psycho went on about how USAID has long been suspected to be a cover for the intelligence agency’s psyops. One cannot think otherwise, especially when you look at how Internews tied funding to ideological conditions – as in Hungary, where they only supported anti-government outlets.
But what sets this story apart is the sheer scale. This has surely escalated from just some blogger getting paid off to now a half-a-billion-dollar machine, one with tendrils in thousands of media outlets around the world which chooses which voices are amplified and which are silenced. Sad that all this while they used “media development” and “press freedom” as a cover to hide behind.

Now, whenever you are thinking about this one “fact check” procedure tagging that viral story that is telling what input “people” must put stock in, you can ask the real question: Who paid for that? As this leak attests, the truth is usually sold with strings attached – attaching that to millions.
