Dark Sky Films offers a new take on a new but common fear in Travis Greene’s new film based on a script written by Jonathan Buchanan, 8 Found Dead. Ahead of the Sept. 8 release on VOD, the official trailer has surfaced online offering a new horror adventure that capitalizes on the fear of strangers and spaces brought about by the gig market. We never really know who’s driving an Uber or, in this case, who is hosting an Airbnb.
Barbarian became one of the most acclaimed horror films of the year, presenting a story filled with dark and unexpected turns, but began with a haunting first chapter centered around an Airbnb rental. Surprisingly, the movie took a different turn, but it seems like what the audience didn’t get to see in Barbarian could be the main plot of 8 Found Dead. The story centers on two couples of friends that arrange to spend a weekend away, reuniting at a secluded house in the desert. However, each of the couples arrive, they’re meet by another couple claims to have rented the place for themselves.

“Two couples head to a secluded desert hideaway for a weekend of relaxation and, unbeknownst to their friends, uneasy revelations. When they arrive, each couple is met by the same eccentric couple, claiming to have booked the rental on the same day at the same time,” reads the synopsis for 8 Found Dead. It continues:
“As two local police officers are drawn into the evening’s strange and unpredictable events, depravity and derangement begin to consume everyone at the house. What begins as miscommunication soon descends in mayhem and bloody murder.”
8 Found Dead is produced by Ryan Valdez and Hannah Risinger from Hello Horror, Elliot Murphy, Laura Buckles, Nathaniel Upshaw, Neil Evans, Aly Trasher, and Jonathan Buchanan.

Who Stars in 8 Found Dead?

8 Found Dead has an interesting ensemble cast, starting with Alisha Soper, who has been a part of some acclaimed projects like Grey’s Anatomy, American Horror Story, and Feud. Aly Trasher also has a wide collection of titles within her filmography, including Hornet, The Source, and the short film 5 Years Gone, in which she starred along with another of the members of the cast of 8 Found Dead, Tim Simek.
Eddy Acosta was also part of the team of 5 Years Gone but as a producer, and now joins his collaborators Trasher and Simek in 8 Found Dead. They’re all joined by veteran actress Nancy Linehan Charles, who was also part of the Ryan Murphy universe, playing a role in American Horror Stories, and has starred in a long list of horror titles in her career. The cast is completed by another experienced performer, Rosanne Limeres, and William Gabriel Grier.
