James Bond Favorite ‘Damson Idris’ Gives Mysterious Response to Playing 007

The race to find the next James Bond actor is heating up. Every fan of the long-running spy thriller franchise has their favorite pick. Daniel Craig was the last actor to play 007 on the big screen, starting his tenure with Casino Royale in 2006, and bringing his time as Bond to a close with 2021’s No Time to Die. Fans are always anxious to learn who will be the next James Bond, but the fan base is even more nervous about the answer following Amazon’s purchase of the IP. Alongside the likes of Theo James, Henry Cavill, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Damson Idris is also one of the front-runners to take on the 007 mantle, and the F1 star gave a very on-brand answer when asked about the role.

Damson Idris recently appeared on the Today Show to promote Joseph Kosinski’s F1, in which he co-stars alongside Brad Pitt, and the actor was asked about various major characters he’s rumored to be connected to. As well as potentially replacing the late Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa/Black Panther in the MCU, Damson Idris is one of the heavy front-runners to play James Bond in Amazon’s rebooted franchise. The actor had already potentially given the game away regarding his Black Panther 3 casting, so he had to get his game face on for the 007 question. When asked if he’s been in any talks with Amazon about the role, Idris cryptically answered:

“I’m already James Bond!”

The future of the James Bond franchise is as uncertain as the actor (or actress) who will take on the iconic role. Amazon has confirmed that the next installment in the James Bond series is one of the company’s top priorities. However, the new film hasn’t been given any significant updates as of yet.

As for the casting, while Amazon hasn’t named any names yet, the company has confirmed that it is looking for a “younger actor” to be bestowed with the license to kill. When the next 007 is eventually revealed, expect the headline to make shock waves across the internet, as everyone and their grandma has some sort of opinion about the long-running, and occasionally controversial, spy franchise.

Whoever does play the part, James Bond vet Pierce Brosnan, has some sound advice for the actor. During a recent chat with MovieWeb, Pierce Brosnan revealed what is required of a good James Bond actor. He said:

“[They need a] sense of humor. A passion for hard work and danger, and being bold. You gotta be dangerous. You gotta know yourself.”
