Jason Momoa’s Fast X villain Dante has already been making an impression on fans of the franchise thanks to his flamboyant appearance in the extended trailer for the penultimate movie in the high-octane franchise. Now he has been getting some high praise from his co-star Michelle Rodriguez who called Dante the best male villain to have ever appeared in the franchise – but second in the overall villain stakes to Charlize Theron’s Cipher.
We are speeding towards the release of Fast X, and that means fans are a little closer to seeing Jason Momoa play dirty as Dante, the son of Fast Five villain Herman Reyes who is out for revenge over the death of his father. We all know that Momoa has played plenty of heroes on screen, but in Fast X he really gets to let his hair down as the over-the-top antagonist, and Rodriguez told Collider’s Ladies Night podcast a little more about his character. She said:
“Revenge with a smirk. It sounds light, but when you see [the movie], you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. I’d say he’s the best male villain we’ve had in the entire franchise, of course because Charlize kills it. You know what I mean? She’s a whole other different type of monster, no pun intended.”
It may have taken some time for Momoa to join the franchise, but it certainly doesn’t look like he is wasting any time in making his mark on the long-running franchise. This will be great news for both fans of Momoa and the Fast Saga, and as his character seems likely to be carrying on into the final Fast & Furious movie, then everyone is in for a treat.

Although there has been no shortage of villains in the Fast & Furious movies, Jason Momoa seems set to be a fan favorite even before his full appearance in the movie has been seen. With the backing of his co-stars and an adoring fan base behind him, it certainly looks like there is something special coming in Dante. Previously, Fast X director Louis Leterrier broke down exactly what makes Dante the villain he is, and how he brings something new to the party. He said:
“Dante is in awe of Dom. He’s analyzed him. There’s nowhere to hide, because he knows Dom better than he knows himself. Dom truly meets his match with Dante. Family goes both ways. There’s family on your side. There’s also family on the other person’s side. When the family that was your super-strength becomes your Achilles’ heel, it’s where you’re going to get wounded the most.”
Fast X stars a large ensemble cast containing both old and new faces, including Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jason Momoa, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, John Cena, Jason Statham, Alan Ritchson, Daniela Melchior, Scott Eastwood, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, Brie Larson, and Rita Moreno. The film revs up in theaters on May 19, 2023.
