James Gunn is already celebrating the successful release of Superman this summer, and up next is Season 2 of Peacemaker, which will look to bring John Cena’s Christopher Smith in line with the new DCU hierarchy and smooth over the wrinkles caused by that Justice League cameo in Season 1. However, even before the series hits HBO Max, there has been a major change to the series that has pleased a lot of fans living on the East Coast.
The first season of Peacemaker, while hugely successful and one of several reasons why Warner Bros. Discovery would have been foolish to put the future of the DCU in any hands other than Gunn’s, was annoying for one particular reason – its ridiculous release time of 3 a.m. ET. However, fans will not have to tank up on caffein to be the first to see Peacemaker’s new episodes as a new announcement has revealed a new, much more sleep-friendly release time for the upcoming season. As per details from Warner Bros. Discovery’s site, Peacemaker Season 2 will debut new episodes weekly at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT, which has gone down very well with fans.
As one fan said on X, “Thank god. I hate either staying up to watch it or waiting till the next day and almost certainly getting spoiled.” Another added, “Finally streaming services are realizing that the 3 a.m. drop times are stupid beyond belief.”

The second season of James Gunn’s beloved superhero series will feature a major appearance from a DCU character.
Naturally, where you are in the world dictates how any drop time plays out. Most streamers have been releasing new content at midnight on the West Coast on the day of the episode’s debut. In the end, it is always 9 p.m. somewhere, right? However, it seems that most people have been pleased with the change.
‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 Has Some Cracks to Fill
Max
Peacemaker released its first season before James Gunn and Peter Safran were appointed as joint CEOs of DC Studios and began the long haul to redefine and revive a failing DC universe. That means there were a couple of things in that season that don’t quite tie up with the new DCU, such as the appearance of Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, Ezra Miller’s The Flash, and some shadows of the rest of the Justice League. Gunn recently noted that this would be addressed very quickly in the new season of Peacemaker, and all will then be well in the world. He recently said:
“Nothing is canon before Creature Commandos, but you can think of those other things as vague memories of things that happened, going back even to the first Suicide Squad.”
In the main, fans are willing to allow a little grace period for Gunn to rectify some of the crossover issues that the franchise has created, and in the end, after a few minutes, most people will have forgotten they even existed in the first place. The good news is that whether you want to merrily accept whatever explanation Gunn gives in Peacemaker’s opening Season 2 episode or finger-blast your keyboard with outrage, you will now be able to do it a whole five hours earlier than expected.
