Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert will undergo surgery Monday to repair a fracture in his non-throwing hand, head coach Jim Harbaugh announced Sunday, according to Kris Rhim of ESPN.
Harbaugh added that he’s unsure if Herbert will miss time due to the procedure.
“I’m treating it as if I’m playing Monday,” Herbert said postgame, according to Daniel Popper of The Athletic.
Herbert briefly exited to the locker room after injuring his left hand during Sunday’s game. Trey Lance entered as his replacement but Herbert finished the 31-14 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Chargers’ next game will be against the defending Super Bowl champions as they welcome the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football. Los Angeles will then finish the year with games against the Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, and Denver Broncos.
Lance would be expected to start if Herbert is unable to go.
Herbert has led the Chargers to an 8-4 record this season. He’s thrown 21 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
