Eight-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Tyron Smith is signing a one-day contract to retire with the Dallas Cowboys, sources told NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
A top-10 pick by the Cowboys in 2011, Smith played 13 of his 14 NFL seasons in Dallas. He became a cornerstone of the offensive line, with the majority of his time coming at left tackle.
Smith made eight Pro Bowls, including seven straight from 2013-19. He was named a first-team All-Pro on two occasions (2014, 2016).
Injuries slowed down Smith in the latter stages of his career, with his last fully healthy season coming in 2015. He suited up only 40 games over his final five years in the league.
Smith spent last season with the New York Jets. He started 10 games for the franchise.
