Armie Hammer has stirred up some confusion on social media after sharing a poster for a new movie directed by the Safdie brothers, the filmmaking duo behind Uncut Gems and Good Time, with an important (but not publicized) catch: the project is not real. The Man from U.N.C.L.E. actor posted a cryptic image on his Instagram account teasing a collaboration with Benny and Josh Safdie for an upcoming film titled Persona Non Grata, in which he appears to have a starring role, and hinted at a Fall 2026 release in the caption.
The comments section of the Instagram post (seen below), which Hammer shared on his grid and further promoted via his stories, was immediately flooded with messages from his followers celebrating the news and congratulating the actor on his next role after a three-year absence from feature films. However, reps for both Benny and Josh Safdie have confirmed to Variety that the movie does not exist, meaning that the poster for Persona Non Grata is completely fake and the reason for the seemingly random gimmick is unknown.
More to come…
