For All Mankind Season 5: Everything We Know So Far

The recently released movie Fly Me to the Moon, starring Channing Tatum and Scarlett Johannson, is an alternate history centered on the Apollo 11 mission and moon landing in 1969. It was co-financed by Apple and will air on Apple TV+ later this year.

But Apple has been in the moon landing alternative history game much longer than that. For All Mankind, the series imagining how the space race would have gone if the Soviet Union had gotten to the moon before the US debuted on Apple TV+ on November 1, 2019, the same day the service launched.

Since then, Apple has shown four seasons and 40 episodes of For All Mankind, with the fourth season ending in January.

Yes, it has. Apple and Sony Pictures Television announced in April that they had renewed For All Mankind for a fifth season.

For All Mankind Spinoff, Star City

At the same time, they announced that a new series called Star City, a spinoff of For All Mankind, was in development by creators Ben Nedivi, Matt Wolpert, and Ronald D. Moore, the same creators of For All Mankind.

“Our fascination with the Soviet space program has grown with every season of ‘For All Mankind,’” Wolpert and Nedivi, the executive producers, said in that April announcement.

“The more we learned about this secret city in the forests outside Moscow where the Soviet cosmonauts and engineers worked and lived, the more we wanted to tell this story of the other side of the space race. We could not be more excited to continue building out the alternate history universe of ‘For All Mankind’ with our partners at Apple and Sony.”

What is For All Mankind About?

(Apple TV+)

Spanning several decades, For All Mankind tells the alternate history of what would have happened if the Soviet Union’s space program had beaten America to the moon in 1969.

This has led to different presidents of the United States on the show than in real life. There have also been various developments in the nation’s space programs, such as man landing on Mars in the 1990s and the Cold War lasting much longer than it did in real life.

As of the end of the fourth season, the Mars colony known as Happy Valley has grown much larger. However, tension on the Red Planet continues to mount.

How Many Episodes Will Season 5 of For All Mankind have?

Apple has not announced the number of episodes in Season 5. However, each of the first four seasons included ten episodes, meaning that the next season will likely also have 10.
