Ryan Gosling and Mikey Day have revived their live-action interpretation of animated icons Beavis and Butt-Head at The Fall Guy premiere. The pair first debuted their iteration of Mike Judge’s beloved slackers on Saturday Night Live last month, with the sketch going viral and being hailed as one of the best on the long-running sketch show series for some time. After first walking the red carpet looking like his usual handsome leading man self, Gosling later appeared at the event looking very different and with Day in tow.

You can check out Gosling and Day as Beavis and Butt-Head at the premiere of The Fall Guy in Los Angeles below courtesy of THR.

The pair also crashed an Emily Blunt interview, and you can check out the hilarious footage below via DiscussingFilm.

The original sketch saw a NewsNation livestream event on AI being derailed by two audience members who happen to look like the iconic heavy metal-loving pair Beavis and Butt-Head. The sketch begins with SNL’s Heidi Gardner playing a news anchor who attempts to interview a professor, played by Kenan Thompson, on the ongoing debate surrounding the use of artificial intelligence.

Unfortunately, Thompson’s professor finds it impossible to concentrate after spotting two unrelated audience members who bear a striking resemblance to Beavis and Butt-Head. The sketch has since been praised for the performances of both Gosling and Day, as well as the delight of seeing Gardner’s initial reaction to the two actors in their costumes. From real life stuntman and director David Leitch, the blockbuster director of Bullet Train, Deadpool 2, Atomic Blonde and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, The Fall Guy is loosely based on the 1980s TV series of the same name. You can check out the official synopsis for The Fall Guy below.

“He’s a stuntman, and like everyone in the stunt community, he gets blown up, shot, crashed, thrown through windows and dropped from the highest of heights, all for our entertainment. And now, fresh off an almost career-ending accident, this working-class hero has to track down a missing movie star, solve a conspiracy and try to win back the love of his life while still doing his day job. What could possibly go right?”

The Fall Guy has received glowing reviews from critics, who have praised the movie’s unabashed commitment to entertainment with its combination of action, romance, and humor. MovieWeb’s own Julian Roman found much to enjoy, calling The Fall Guy “A Spectacular Start to the Summer Movie Season.”

“David Leitch (Deadpool 2, Bullet Train) brilliantly showcases his talent as a renowned stuntman turned action director. The Fall Guy runs the gamut of jaw-dropping fight scenes, vehicle chases, and death-defying plunges. Leitch smartly avoids too much gunplay, Colt isn’t a trained killer, he’s just a professional who knows how to hurl himself on top of a speeding car without shattering every bone in his body. Leitch constantly reminds us that stunts are spectacularly dangerous. Making things go boom requires meticulous planning and specific equipment and Colt expertly uses safety lines, rigs, and harnesses. The movie within a movie concept gets granular but doesn’t become a bore.”

Starring Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Hannah Waddingham, Teresa Palmer, Stephanie Hsu, and Winston Duke,
The Fall Guy
is due to be released in theaters by Universal Pictures on May 3.
