The Bear Season 3 Sets Major New Record on Hulu

Summary

  • The Bear
Season 3 sets a new record high for Hulu with over 5.4 million viewers in the first four days.
  • The show’s viewership increased by 24% compared to Season 2, and the Disney+ with Hulu bundle subscription expanded the audience.
  • The Bear
has been renewed for a fourth season, and the show maintains an authentic vibe and high-pressure restaurant world atmosphere.

The FX/Hulu series The Bear has achieved unprecedented viewership success with the recent release of its third season. Within just four days of dropping all ten episodes of Season 3 on June 26 on the streaming platform, The Bear amassed over 5.4 million total viewers, according to a report by Variety. This marks an incredible viewership number for a scripted television show premiere and sets a new record high for Hulu. Considering the unscripted content, The Bear Season 3 is the third-biggest season premiere in Hulu’s history.

According to data acquired from Disney, it is worth noting that The Bear’s Season 3 viewership in the first four days outpaced the Season 2 premiere numbers by a sizable 24% margin during the same time. This is a continuation of the growth of consecutive seasons for the critically acclaimed and award-winning series, since word-of-mouth buzz drove a 70% viewership increase between Seasons 1 and 2. Additionally, the option of Disney+ with Hulu bundle subscription has provided an even larger audience reach for the latest season.

Streaming Success Points At A Bright Future for The Bear

These record-breaking viewership numbers are testament to The Bear’s immense popularity and streaming success that the show has achieved since debuting in 2022. As one of Hulu and FX’s original shows, the statistics indicate just how dedicated and exponentially growing fanbase it has, which in turn inspires the stars to deliver strong performances season after season. With renewal for a fourth season already announced, The Bear seems poised to continue being a streaming hit.

Speaking of which, Hulu calculates these numbers by tracking total views across all viewing platforms within the initial post-premiere window of four days and dividing it by the total runtime. The Disney+/Hulu bundle, which launched after Season 2 and offers the combined streaming subscription package, has provided a “significant boost” and expanded Hulu’s potential audience further.

The actors shine in season three of the beloved FX dramedy, but The Bear feels like a show in transition.

That said, created by Christopher Storer, the third season of The Bear follows Carmen as he takes significant, and often demanding, steps to evolve his restaurant from fine dining to a truly exceptional, Michelin-star-deserving one. Meanwhile, Sydney is approached by Ever CDC, Adam Shapiro, with an offer that puts her in a tough spot.

The team, which includes Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Ayo Edebiri, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, Abby Elliott and Matty Matheson opposite Jeremy Allen White, has received immense praise for maintaining the show’s authentic vibe and offering viewers a glimpse into the high-pressure restaurant world. The season also features cameos from John Cena, Olivia Colman, Jon Bernthal and more. The Bear has already been greenlit for a fourth run ahead of Season 3’s premiere, and early reports suggest portions of the installment were filmed simultaneously.

season 3 is now available to stream on Hulu and Disney+.
