HBO’s The White Lotus has introduced audiences to the most luxurious fictional hotel chain that we never, ever want to stay at. The company apparently has resorts across the globe, with Season 1 taking place in Hawaii and Season 2 in Italy. The upcoming third season is taking its rich and spoiled cast of characters even further abroad as the new season is set in Thailand. The White Lotus has already been renewed for a fourth season and, even though we haven’t enjoyed our Thailand vacation yet, fans already want to know where we’re jetting off to next. For those who are desperate to know, we’ve just been given a massive clue.
Speaking to Deadline at the premiere of The White Lotus Season 3, HBO’s executive vice president, Francesca Orsi, teased where Season 4 could be taking place, as location scouting for the new season will take place soon. “We’re going on some location scouting in the next couple of weeks, so we’ll know soon,” she said. Orsi didn’t reveal the exact location for Season 4, which likely hasn’t been finalized. However, the show’s creator, Mike White, has at least narrowed down the search radius to a single continent, as Orsi revealed:
“I can’t really say where we’re going to land, but chances are somewhere in Europe.”
Season 4 of The White Lotus taking place “somewhere in Europe” means the series will return to somewhat familiar ground after Season 2’s Italian vacation. However, despite what some Americans believe when generalizing the continent, Europe is a giant place containing 50 distinctly different countries. Season 4 could take us to another warm idyllic villa, perhaps in the south of France, Spain, Portugal, or Greece. Alternatively, the characters could go city hopping in Berlin or Amsterdam (The White Lotus in Amsterdam would be wild). Perhaps the show could even move away from sunny vacations to a winter getaway in Norway or Iceland. With a die-hard following and the financial backing of HBO, the world is Mike White’s oyster.
‘The White Lotus’ Season 3 Is the Best Season Yet, Says Francesca Orsi
During the conversation, Francesca Orsi was asked about the upcoming third season of The White Lotus, which premieres this weekend on Feb. 16. You would expect HBO’s EVP to praise the show, but Orsi went so far as to hyperbolically call it the best season yet. “I don’t know how Mike could ever top what he’s achieved here,” she said, recalling her reaction to watching the Season 3 finale. “It is an incredible season of television, a piece of cinema. He’s outdone himself exponentially, I’m really blown away by what he’s accomplished with this. Each season always has something to say but there’s a profound quality about this season that feels unlike anything else he’s explored. It’s a tall order for the future.”
