Bumper in Berlin Receives Official Release Date and First Images

Adam Devine is reprising his role as Bumper Allen in the Peacock spin-off series, Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin. The series has been in production in Berlin since March of this year, with an official release date announced for Nov. 23rd. Bumper was originally the leader of Bellas’ rival a cappella group, the Treblemakers. He then became a love interest to Rebel Wilson’s Fat Amy Character before auditioning for the singing competition, The Voice, in the post-credit scenes. Bumper in Berlin will pick up several years later, following his character as he attempts to revive his music career. The official synopsis for the show reads:

In the new series for Peacock, several years after we last saw him in Pitch Perfect, Adam Devine’s Bumper Allen moves to Germany to revive his music career when one of his songs becomes big in Berlin.

Several images released from Peacock show an older Bumper ready to tackle Europe with his a cappella prowess. The official photos are provided by DiscussingFilm and Elizabeth Banks‘ Twitter Accounts.

While two sets of images reveal Devine singing solo, the other photo gives our first look at Flula Borg, reprising his role as Piëter Krämer from the Pitch Perfect sequel. In addition, we see Sarah Hyland’s new character, Heidi, who is the assistant to Piëter and Bumper but has her own dreams of becoming a singer-songwriter.

Who is Involved With Bumper In Berlin?

In addition to the three main cast members, Jameela Jamil and Lera Abova are confirmed to be joining the show. Jamil plays Giesla, a “flashy up-and-coming German pop star who is Piëter’s ex-girlfriend and Bumper’s main rival on the show.” She’s known for her work on The Good Place. Abova will play Piëter’s sister, a famous DJ and music producer in Berlin.

Megan Amram will write the show, with previous experience working on The Good Place and Parks and Recreation. In addition, Elizabeth Banks is returning to executive produce, alongside Max Handleman, Paul Brooks, and Scott Neimeyer. Banks is a huge contributor to the world of Pitch Perfect, starring, producing, and directing two sequels for the franchise.

Pitch Perfect has a massive fanbase, with the final installment in the film franchise earning $185 million against a $45 million budget. However, as the franchise continued throughout the years, it seemed to lose touch with some more grounded relational aspects. It will be interesting to see how Peacock tackles the older ages of these characters and the real drama that comes with trying to reach stardom in another part of the world. We can tune into Bumper’s journey later this year, on Nov. 23rd.
