We’re all going back to Point Place to say hello to Wisconsin once again, as Netflix has renewed That ’90s Show for a second season. The series serves as a legacy sequel to That ’70s Show, bringing back Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith to appear as Kitty and Red Forman in series regular roles. Also making special appearances from the That ’70s Show cast are many of the major players from the original series, including Topher Grace returning as Eric Forman.

As Eric and his old friends are featured in a limited capacity, the new younger cast are the stars of the show. When it was announced that Netflix is moving forward with season 2, Grace took to Twitter to offer his congratulations to the new cast. He jokingly suggests that one day they may all reunite for the next spinoff of the series, which would move the story forward another decade.

The actor tweeted, “Congrats to my friends on 90s Show! Can’t wait to be reunited with you all on That 00s Show, debuting fall 2038.”

The new series is set 15 years after the events of That ’70s Show. While there was a previous spinoff called That ’80s Show, it was very short-lived and featured no characters from its parent series, and that spinoff is essentially ignored entirely for the new show. The story picks up with the Leia Forman (Callie Haverda), the daughter of Eric and Donna (Laura Prepon), coming to Point Place to spend the summer with her grandparents, Red and Kitty. She hangs out with the new gang of 90s hooligans, including Ashley Aufderheide as Gwen, Mace Coronel as Jay Kelso, Reyn Doi as Ozzie, Sam Morelos as Nikki, and Maxwell Acee Donovan as Nate.

“We’re thrilled that the incredibly funny stories from Point Place, Wisconsin continue to resonate around the world, no matter the decade,” Netflix’s VP of Comedy Series, Tracey Pakosta, said in a statement when the show was renewed.

Showrunner Gregg Mettler added, “We owe the fans, old and new, for taking the trip with us in the first season – and we can’t wait to be there with them in the second season.”

The first season of That ’90s Show is streaming on Netflix. Season 2 does not yet have a premiere date.
