The fifth and final season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is bringing in some new guest stars. EW has exclusively confirmed that Hank Azaria (The Simpsons), Sutton Foster (Younger), Darren Criss (Glee), Danny Strong (Dopesick creator), and Sean Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) will appear in the series’ concluding season. Additionally, EW has announced the return of David Paymer, who will reprise the role of Harry Drake.
Last May, fans of the hit series were happy to learn that Milo Ventimiglia would return. Ventimiglia’s character, nicknamed “Handsome Man,” appeared as a love interest for Midge Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan). Although he only appeared in one episode, series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino confirmed Ventimiglia’s season five appearance would be more extensive.
Those familiar with Sherman-Palladino’s previous works may notice her connection to some of season five’s guest stars. Foster has appeared in Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life and starred in Bunheads, while Gunn, Strong, and Ventimiglia all appeared in Gilmore Girls. Moreover, several Gilmore Girls cast members have made their way to The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, including Alex Borstein, Liza Weil, Emily Bergl, Brian Tarantina, Christopher Eigeman, Scott Cohen, and Kelly Bishop. Sherman-Palladino writes, directs, and executive produces the series alongside her husband, Daniel Palladino.
