Stranger Things may be one of the most popular television shows from the last couple of years, but that doesn’t mean the cast and crew haven’t had to do some weird promotions in order to help increase its reach.
The series premiered in 2016 on Netflix, rapidly becoming one of the most watched original productions from the streaming platform, which of course resulted in the story continuing way past that first successful season. More than seven years later, the Duffer brothers and the team are getting ready to present the epic conclusion with one final season, and a lot has changed for both the show and its cast since those very first day. Including the way they promote the series.
In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, David Harbour recalled one particular episode when they were asked to promote the show with a fan experience which was, in his own words, very “cringey”:
“I’ll tell you what they did want to do. Season two, I think it was of Stranger Things. They wanted us to ride on a TMZ-type bus. It was like a Stranger Things fan bus and get on the bus, stop traffic, get on the bus, drive up, and everybody gets off the bus with them and stuff, and we did it for like a couple of minutes, and it became very, as the kids say, cringey very quickly.”
That wasn’t the only unfortunate experience Harbour has been through while been part of Stranger Things. The actor recently revealed that, while he loves being on the show, he wishes to be recognized beyond his role of Jim Hopper.

David Harbour Teases Stranger Things Finale
Netflix
The conclusion of season 4 left everything set up for the show’s finale, with Vecna slowly recovering in the Upside Down and building up his army for the epic final battle. Meanwhile, in Hawkins, the barrier between the town and the Upside Down gradually fades, and darkness makes its way over the real world. The protagonists will have to prepare for their last confrontation with the powerful villain, his monsters and all the dark forces that have caused so much damage.
But the end of Stranger Things will not only be packed with action, and surely a few deaths, it will also present an emotional story that will represent the farewell of its endearing characters to its audience. David Harbour recently spoke about the end of the show, describing it as “very moving”.
Beyond its soon-to-come finale, Stranger Things has already been granted its continuation with an animated series set in the same universe of the original show, although no further details have been shared about how that story will go and if any character from the live-action series will be part of it. Although it hasn’t been confirmed yet, there’s high chances of the franchise expanding even further with some other spinoffs.
