‘Gears Of War’ actor teases June reveal for ‘Gears Of War 6’

A Gears Of War voice actor has hinted that the next game in the franchise will be revealed this summer.

Liam McIntyre voices JD Fenix in both Gears Of War 4 and 5, with the fate of the protagonist left up to the player at the conclusion of the most recent Gears Of War game.

Earlier this week, McIntyre was asked about the future of the character and which decision was seen as canon in Gears Of War lore. Responding to the post, McIntyre wrote: “I have no idea. I think Gears Of War tells us all in June,” alongside a smiley face.

I have no idea. I think @GearsofWar tells us all in June. 🙂 https://t.co/jNxqbyTZMi

People were quick to take that post as confirmation that Gears 6 would be unveiled in June, especially with the annual Xbox Showcase also due to take place that month.

However, McIntyre has since tried to downplay the rumours. “I think people missed the ‘I have no idea’ part. Haha. I’m just hopeful,” he wrote, with fellow Gears Of War voice actor Eugene Byrd also getting involved. The fate of his character, Del Walker, is also left up to the player at the end of Gears Of War 5. “I’m hopeful too cuz I also have NO IDEA,” Byrd wrote.

“Maybe we both live, and we leave the COG and go off somewhere and just hang out and play video games all day,” replied McIntyre, before he revealed that he had pitched a scenario where both Del Walker and JD Fenix survive the events of Gears Of War 5.

I pitched exactly that to Rod, but then he left lol

Hopefully that’s not related 🙂 https://t.co/kMlZeOMSzD

Whether or not everyone lives happily ever after, it was reported last year that Microsoft’s The Coalition had pivoted their full attention to Gears 6. “Definitely, that will be their next game,” continued the report.

2022 also saw Netflix confirm it had partnered with The Coalition to release a number of Gears Of War projects, including a live action film however updates have been few and far between ever since.

In other news, People Can Fly has confirmed the cancellation of its co-op action role-playing game Project Dagger citing “unsatisfactory” commercial potential, despite the project being in development since 2020.
