Report: Giants interested in Rodgers after missing out on Stafford

The New York Giants are shifting their attention to quarterback Aaron Rodgers after Matthew Stafford agreed to a revised deal with the Los Angeles Rams, sources told The Athletic’s Dianna Russini.

New York has discussed potentially adding the future Hall of Fame passer all week, Russini reports.

The New York Jets announced earlier this month that they intend to release Rodgers after two seasons. He missed nearly all of the 2023 campaign with an Achilles injury before throwing for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions with a 63% completion rate last season.

Multiple calls have been made on Rodgers’ behalf to the Giants, as well as other teams, to gauge potential interest, according to CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones.

In addition to Rodgers, New York could also find a quarterback with the No. 3 overall pick in the draft. Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders are considered the top candidates to be the first passer selected this spring.

Tommy DeVito remains the only quarterback on the Giants’ roster with both Drew Lock and Tim Boyle set to be unrestricted free agents. New York parted ways with Daniel Jones during the 2024 season.
