Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece has recently been confirmed to be releasing its next batch of episodes in 2026, with the next season shaping up to be yet another ambitious adaptation. The first season of the series adapted the East Blue saga from the manga created by Eiichiro Oda, telling the story of Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) recruiting the first four members of his crew. However, the second season sees the newly assembled Straw Hat Crew sailing to the Grand Line, meaning that larger-scale arcs like Little Garden and Drum Island will be adapted.
Moreover, the overarching antagonist of this next saga, Mr. 0 aka Crocodile, will play a large role in the second (and hopefully third) seasons. Joe Manganiello plays the iconic One Piece villain, and the actor recently spoke with Eva Carducci on Instagram about his appearance in Season 2, teasing that he had seen some footage of himself as Crocodile, and he couldn’t have been happier with how it turned out, saying:
“I’ve seen what we shot for Season 2. I went into the office and watched it. I don’t know that I am ever gonna look that cool again, it’s about the coolest thing I think I have ever done, it’s awesome. The coolest thing I’ve even done. It’s so cool. I couldn’t believe what I was watching. Because when you look at all those pieces, there’s a lot going on and it seems crazy. But all put together, and the set they built for me, it’s amazing.”

Netflix TUDUM has revealed a major announcement regarding the second season of their live-action ‘One Piece’ adaptation.
Judging by Manganiello’s comments, it seems that the production of One Piece Season 2 will continue the tradition of the first season of building immersive and expansive sets to bring Oda’s vision to life. One Piece Season 1 featured faithful recreations of The Baratie, the floating restaurant that Sanji (Taz Skylar) works at, as well as Arlong Park, in which the decisive battle of the season takes place. In the manga, Crocodile’s introduction is in a giant, impressive room that serves as his lair, which makes sense given the actor’s comments.

Joe Manganiello also spoke about how seriously he is taking his role as Crocodile, saying “I take that part very seriously because I want people to feel something, and I want to understand the mythology of my character and what is the story that we’re telling about life, or about growing up, or about changing, or about handling defeat. It’s important.” While the villain may not have a prominent role in the arcs being adapted in Season 2, the fact that Manganiello is preparing for his more expansive role in a potential third season is admirable.
The live-action cast of One Piece has so far proven to be one of the greatest aspects of the show. The way Godoy, Emily Rudd, Mackenyu, Taz Skylar, and Jacob Gibson have replicated the chemistry and charm of the Straw Hats as seen in the manga and anime has helped to propel the series to new heights. Hopefully, Manganiello will do the same as the villain Sir Crocodile, and be an intimidating and exciting foil to Luffy and the rest of the Straw Hats.
