Bad Monkey Season 2 Theories: I’ve Got Some Wild Ideas About What Happens Next

Bad Monkey Season 2 Theories: I’ve Got Some Wild Ideas About What Happens Next

Bad Monkey Season 2 isn’t that far off, so Andrew Yancy’s next disaster is no longer just fan wishful thinking.

Apple is bringing Vince Vaughn back as Yancy, the Miami detective turned Keys health inspector, and Season 1 left him with plenty to deal with.

Nick Stripling died by Neville’s hand, Eve choked on a baby carrot before falling to her death, Rosa walked away, and then Ro showed up with mysterious cargo in his trunk.

Of course, Yancy can’t catch a break. And do you know what the funny part is?

TVLine reports Season 2 will tell an original story instead of adapting Carl Hiaasen’s Razor Girl, although Hiaasen is still involved.

That gives the show plenty of room for new characters, new problems, and, yes, I already have theories.

Yancy’s New Case Starts in Ro’s Car

Ro showing up at Yancy’s house with something in his trunk was the show’s way of reminding us that Yancy’s peaceful plan was never going to last.

Yancy had just claimed he wanted to slow down and live like a Key deer, which was sweet for about seven seconds.

Then some police-adjacent nonsense arrived, and Yancy was interested again.

I suspect Ro’s car contains the first clue to Bad Monkey Season 2’s mystery.

Maybe it’s a body part, evidence, or some cursed Florida object that I’d take one look at and immediately wonder why Yancy would willingly ruin his week over it.

That fit Season 1 too, since Bad Monkey began with Yancy getting pulled into a suspicious case after tourists found a severed arm.

Rosa May Return, But Not as His Reward

I want Rosa back, but I don’t want Season 2 treating her like a prize Yancy gets after giving her one sad look.

Natalie Martinez gave Rosa such a sharp, exhausted spark that losing her hurt more than I expected.

Rosa leaving made sense. Yancy helped her see her own unhappiness, but that does not mean she owed him her future.

He kept choosing the case, the badge fantasy, and the thrill of being useful.

If Rosa returns, I could see it happening as the new mystery intersects with Miami, the morgue, or a suspicious death that requires her expertise.

Yancy would probably try to charm his way back into her life, and I need Rosa to make him work for it.

Not cruelly, just enough to remind him that a few jokes can’t erase the fact that he walked away when she needed him.

Neville Could Become Yancy’s Best Wild Card

Neville went through hell because of Nick and Eve’s greed, and by the finale, he earned his right to rebuild on Andros with Dawnie.

Apple TV‘s cast list includes Ronald Peet as Neville, and his Season 1 journey gave the show more heart than its breezy tone wanted to admit.

I doubt Neville stays clear of danger for long. He kept Nick’s watch, which initially felt funny and petty, but it could become surprisingly significant.

The watch might connect Neville to a new villain; someone could come looking for it, and Yancy might drag Neville back into trouble without even meaning to.

(Courtesy of Apple TV)

Absolutely, and knowing Yancy, he’ll convince himself he’s helping while dragging Neville straight back into the mess.

Neville and Yancy make sense as reluctant partners since both men lost something to the same rotten people.

Season 2 could give them a case that starts as a favor and grows teeth.

Eve’s Death May Still Haunt the Story

Eve is dead, so I’m not expecting a surprise return unless Bad Monkey suddenly becomes a zombie telenovela, and please, no.

On the Bad Monkey Season 1 finale, Eve choked on a baby carrot and fell to her death, which tracks with the Dragon Queen’s curse coming back in the nastiest way possible.

Still, Eve can affect Season 2 without appearing, since her money, fake identities, resort plans, and past crimes could create problems across Florida and the Bahamas.

Eve was never going to leave without consequences, so I’d expect debt, grudges, paperwork, and at least three people still itching for revenge.

That makes Eve’s fallout potentially more interesting than another appearance.

The new mystery could connect to someone who profited from her and Nick’s operation.

They could be minor players in a larger racket, Eve’s backup plan, or someone she betrayed who spots Yancy and decides he looks punchable.

John Malkovich’s Character Sounds Like Trouble

(Courtesy of Apple TV)

Well, John Malkovich has joined Bad Monkey Season 2 as a series regular, playing Spencer, the boss of a major South Florida criminal organization.

That sounds like exactly the kind of person Yancy should avoid, which means he probably won’t.

My theory is that Spencer becomes the new big bad, but not in a loud cartoon-villain way.

Malkovich is too good at making calm people terrifying. I can already see him playing someone who smiles, speaks softly, and ruins lives before breakfast.

The best choice would be to make Spencer the kind of villain Yancy cannot annoy into making a mistake.

Nick was desperate, Eve was greedy, and Spencer could be colder and more calculated, forcing Yancy to grow up a little, which he’ll hate and I’ll enjoy.

Why I Believe Yancy Won’t Stay Changed

Season 1 ended with Yancy saying he wanted to change, and I believe he meant it in that exact second.

Then Ro arrived with a mystery, and the old Yancy resurfaced so quickly I nearly laughed.

That is why Season 2 should not pretend he is fixed.

Yancy can want a calmer life while still being incapable of ignoring something suspicious right in front of him.

(Courtesy of Apple TV)

Yancy can leave the badge behind and promise himself a slower life, and he can even convince Rosa that he’s ready to stop chasing every bizarre problem that comes his way.

But when something suspicious lands in front of him, curiosity will win. And that is exactly where the fun begins.

Do you think Ro’s car kicks off the next investigation, Rosa returns to Yancy’s orbit, or Malkovich’s Spencer makes everyone regret getting out of bed?

Drop your theories below, and follow TV Fanatics for more Bad Monkey updates before Yancy finds another criminal circus with ocean views.

  • Bad Monkey Season 2 is coming to Apple TV, and Yancy’s Season 1 ending leaves room for messy cases, old mistakes, and new chaos.

  • Well, that was another riveting episode of “the only point of this title is to connect to the source material,” wasn’t it? In all seriousness, the monkey is getting further away from being relevant. However, it is worth noting that the primate who plays Driggs is quite the acting talent. Still, that’s no excuse for…
