Coachella Style 2022: The Best Street-Style Photos

After a two-year hiatus, Coachella is back in Palm Springs kicking off the 2022 festival season with fervor. The stage will deliver plenty of head-turning fashion with artists like the impeccably dressed Harry Styles, Billie Eilish in all her ’90s-inspired glory, and the City Girls wearing head-to-toe red. But it’s the everyday attendees whose looks will set the tone for festival style trends — this summer and beyond. For Coachella 2022, photographer Darrel Hunter was on hand to capture the street style on the festival grounds but also at events hosted by Revolve, H&M, and Monica Hansen Beachwear.

While the classic Coachella aesthetic remains intact — think bohemian flourishes, beachside staples, and Western-inspired boots — 2022 is bringing new energy to a fashion category that had frankly grown stale. “Euphoria” is no doubt the inspiration behind a flood of colorful makeup looks, and 2000s-inspired cutouts are as ubiquitous as palm trees.

Crochet is dominating the fashion landscape, too, materializing in rainbow-print crop tops and monochrome fringe skirt sets. Pearls are another fresh proposition, with the delicate gemstone popping up on netted dresses, chain belts, hairpins, and Pretty Connected‘s viral mask and phone chains.

The popular festival clothing brands run the gamut from Free People to Farm Rio, H&M to Revolve. The accessories, though, are decidedly luxe. Festivalgoers stepped out in Bottega Veneta’s chain bag in an eye-catching shade of neon; Chanel pearl chains, backpacks, and boots; YSL gold logo earrings; and sunglasses from Burberry, Gucci, and Miu Miu.

As for the footwear, people gravitated toward comfort — an enduring quarantine trend — with white sneakers, cowboy boots, and even Uggs usually reserved for the winter. That’s not to say that you didn’t see the occasional tan strappy sandal or metallic platform heel paired with a minidress to really let the footwear shine.
