Barrel jeans can be polarizing, I know. But for those of us who love a statement silhouette, learning how to balance the style’s voluminous cut with snug tops and the right pair of comfortable shoes can make all the difference. With countless versions on the market, it’s also a matter of finding the right pair for you. While I own a slimmer version that relies more on the direction of the leg seams to create the illusion of bowing, I’ve been searching for a bolder barrel with a roomy, curved shape that still manages to be flattering. The Way-High Curve Jean from Everlane ($128) is exactly what I’ve been looking for, and the Calico Ecru color couldn’t be more perfect for spring and summer.

About Everlane’s The Way-High Curve Jean

  • They’re made from 98 percent organic cotton and two percent elastane.
  • They have a high-rise silhouette with exaggerated, barrel-shaped legs that are ankle length.
  • The jeans feature two front angled pockets and two back pockets.
  • The curve design is intended to offer plenty of room for thicker thighs.
  • They come in seven colors and two inseam lengths: 27-inch and 29-inch.

What I Like About Everlane’s The Way-High Curve Jean

Unlike other barrel jeans I’ve tried, these jeans are thick enough to actually hold their shape but don’t feel uncomfortably heavy either. The material is really soft and has just a touch of stretch, which adds a ton of comfort, especially with the ultra-high waist. The waist hits just above my belly button, so I feel tucked in without any uncomfortable digging. Aside from how good the fabric feels, I also feel better knowing that they’re made from 98 percent organic cotton, which means no toxic chemical fertilizers or pesticides, cleaner water, uncontaminated soil, and safer conditions for cotton farmers.

What to Consider Before Buying Everlane’s The Way-High Curve Jean

The barrel shape is definitely pronounced, but the uniform color (instead of a distressed wash) and simple stitching give them a clean and minimal aesthetic. You can choose between seven colors and two inseams: 27 inches and 29 inches. I’m wearing a size 29 with a 27-inch inseam and am 5’6″. I’m usually a size 28, but I wanted a slightly loose and ultra-comfy fit. I prefer to pair these jeans with slimmer tops that I can tuck in to help balance the proportions, but they also pair well with cropped sweatshirts and T-shirts for a more relaxed vibe.

Who Is Everlane’s The Way-High Curve Jean Best For?

This style is perfect for anyone looking for a pair of white on-trend denim that can be thrown on with any color top for an interesting and fashion-forward look, even if it’s just a T-shirt. If you’re also trying to shop more consciously and want to support brands that use organic materials, this is an excellent choice, especially considering the quality of the material and cut for the price.
