When Abdul C. first stepped into the jewelry business, he couldn’t have imagined that his family’s small jewelry store would one day become an international destination for customized, high-end pieces.
Abdul and his wife launched Highline Custom Jewelry in the San Francisco Bay Area over three decades ago. Their business has grown along with their family, and now, Abdul’s two sons Isa and Hasan are also involved in the company.
“We’ve been in the jewelry business for more than 30 years,” Abdul says. “In that time, we’ve served generations of clients. We’ve grown from a trusted local jeweler to a name recognized by customers and celebrities nationwide.”
Visitors to the boutique in Walnut Creek, CA, can select fine jewelry and watches available in the store, or they can bring existing pieces in for repair. However, Highline Custom Jewelry’s specialty is made-to-order jewelry created in collaboration with its customers.
“From the very beginning, our focus has been on quality, detail, and personal connection,” Abdul says. “Our clients can select something from our catalog of fine jewelry or create custom pieces designed to reflect their unique style and story. It might be a personalized engagement ring, a one-of-a-kind pendant, or a ring set with precious stones. Everything we make is handled with precision and care.”
The boutique’s custom pieces are its biggest draw, but the company hasn’t always focused on personalized jewelry. When Abdul and his wife first entered the jewelry business, they primarily sold ready-made jewelry. At the request of customers, they began creating personalized items.
As word spread, Highlight Custom Jewelry caught the attention of celebrities and other clients around the world.
“We had so many customers who wanted hard-to-find items,” Abdul says. “So we decided to start taking orders and custom-designing items for locals and celebrities. Our clients include professional basketball players, football players, boxers, and actors.”
Even a quick scan of the company’s offerings can give you a sense of the artistry behind each piece. Highline Custom Jewelry’s social media feeds show off diamond-encrusted chains, glittering rings set with rubies, and even a 3D St. Jude pendant cloaked in countless tiny diamonds.
Highline Custom Jewelry has a robust local following in the San Francisco Bay Area, but it also has clients scattered across the country and around the world. Abdul says the business regularly ships jewelry to Canada, Australia, and the U.K.
Abdul and his family’s passion for craftsmanship and commitment to excellence are nowhere more evident than in the boutique’s sleek Walnut Creek showroom. Cases of dazzling jewelry sit atop white marble floors and beneath rows of glass chandeliers.
After three decades in the business, some jewelers might decide to take a hands-off approach, but Abdul is nearly always on the floor helping customers, and he takes calls 24/7. As any Highline Custom Jewelry client can tell you, dedicated service and authentic connection have been essential from the start.
