ITA to Return to Coterie to Showcase the Best of “Made In Italy”

The Italian Trade Agency (ITA) is extending its sponsorship of some of Italy’s very best women’s wear and women’s accessories designers at the semi-annual Coterie trade show, September 9-11, 2026, at The Jacob K. Javits Center in NYC. This season, ITA will sponsor 77+ curated Italian brands at Coterie, a testament to its dedication to supporting its brands to ensure they are set up for success during the precious time they have with US retailers.

ITA’s partnership with Coterie is a key component of Italy’s dedication to enabling its Italian women’s wear and accessories brands to further their presence within the US market. This season, 14 out of ITA’s presenting brands will be new to the Coterie show across women’s RTW, handbags, shoes, and fashion jewelry.

At the show, ITA will welcome retailers with special complimentary espresso, breakfast, and gelato bars offered within its central lounge — this time a reference to the members-only boating clubs across the Italian seaside and its stunning lakes. Concurrent with the trade show’s bustling schedule, ITA will stage a photo shoot on-site including all 77+ brands, shot by fashion photographer, Samantha Rapp.

Fashion editorial and runway models will be dressed in full designer looks, curated live by its fashion stylist talent, allowing retailers to see Italian women’s wear and accessories as they were meant to be seen — on the moving fluidity of live models, where silhouettes can come alive away from the racks.

Fashion influencers and content creators, including Steve Gonzalez, will also be live on the show floor creating sought-after video content of all the ITA happenings. The organization’s fashion media partners will also be in attendance, devoting editorial and experiential “style session” attention to ITA’s participating new brands.

ITA’s presence at Coterie is one of the many ways the Italian government is working to strategically promote ‘Made in Italy,’ with the goal of expanding Italy’s share of international trade and enhancing the image of ‘Made in Italy’ worldwide while attracting new foreign investment. Earlier this year, ITA sponsored not only Coterie’s February edition, but also the January and August editions of the Chicago Collective menswear show. In May, ITA then sponsored ‘Italy on Madison,’ an immersive 3-day showcase held in May spanning the worlds of design, beauty & fragrance, eyewear, fashion, and food & wine. The event featured over 90 outstanding Italian brands and welcomed over 600 guests to ITA’s Upper East Side historic brownstone in Manhattan. In June, the organization sponsored 25 ‘Made in Italy’ brands at the Miami Cabana swimwear show. ITA will also unveil a new 2026 site refresh for its exclusive digital platform, EXTRAITASTYLE, featuring wholesale tools designed to make it easier for American retailers to discover another extensive assortment of Italian brands online with over 6,000 products.

U.S. imports of fashion and accessories from Italy returned to growth in 2025, recording a 2.4% increase in value. However, Italy’s market share continued to decline, settling at 3.93%, with Italy finishing the year in eighth place among the United States’ leading suppliers. Despite this, Italy remained the European Union’s top supplier in the sector.

In the first four months of 2026, although the value of imports was essentially in line with that recorded in the same period of the previous year; Italy moved up in the supplier rankings, reaching fourth place. This result was driven by the sharp decline in U.S. imports in the sector, which fell by approximately 55% compared to the same period in 2025. Against this particularly negative backdrop, Italy managed to stand out thanks to the resilience of its exports.
