Considered one of the most creative people in the event world, Mindy Weiss is in a league of her own when it comes to creating memorable experiences. The Daily recently checked in with the renowned planner to find out what’s trending in the wedding world and get the scoop on her nostalgic new project.
Let’s start with fashion! Is there a type of wedding dress that seems to be trending these days?
Romance is having a big moment! Beautiful lace, corseted bodices, and dropped or basque waists, that lovely waistline that dips into a V, are all popular. There’s something timeless and vintage feeling about these looks, but the details still feel fresh. My advice is always to choose the dress that makes you feel incredible. That confidence will outlast any trend.
As someone who loves the new thing, what’s the next new thing in the wedding world?
The next big thing is creating little discoveries throughout the celebration. A welcome party, a dinner, and an after-party can each have their own personality. I love an unexpected detail, a favorite childhood treat, a personal note at each place setting, or entertainment that surprises everyone. The ideas that excite me most start with the couple’s story, I really like to get to know our clients before we brainstorm.

Where are some of the hot destination locations right now?
Italy continues to be a favorite, and Mexico and Santa Barbara are also popular choices. Within the US, Hawaii and California always have beautiful choices for a destination celebration. I always encourage couples to think beyond the beautiful photograph. How will their guests get there, where will they stay, and what will the entire weekend feel like?
What questions should couples be asking their wedding planners when they initially meet with them?
Start with, “Is our vision realistic for our budget and guest count?” That honest conversation is so important. Then ask what the planner’s services include, who you’ll work with day to day, how communication works, and who will be there on the wedding day. I would also ask how they handle unexpected challenges. You want someone whose creativity you love and whose judgment you trust.
Do you ever get the equivalent of wedding planner FOMO when you see another wedding?
Of course! I love a beautiful celebration! My planner brain immediately starts wondering how they created something or managed the logistics. It’s exciting to see other people’s creativity. Even after all these years, I still love being surprised. That curiosity keeps me inspired. And let me add the wedding planner industry has really been pulling out all the stops in design and experiences. I come from an incredibly talented industry and I’m regularly in awe of what other people do.
Tell us about the Ring Pop collection and where people can find them!
I love working on this product. The Ring Pop Wedding Collection takes me back to my childhood but it also leans into the creativity and the fun I love to create in my events. It brings a little sparkle and sweetness to the entire wedding journey. We created lighter-colored candy gems with pearl-white rings in three flavors: First Kiss Watermelon, Main Squeeze Citrus, and Berry in Love Strawberry. The wrappers have playful sayings like “Pop the Question” and “I Said Yes.” They’re such a fun addition to proposals, showers, bachelorette parties, and welcome bags. You can find them at David’s Bridal and on Amazon, with a broader retail rollout planned for early 2027.
What appealed to you about this project?
Ring Pop has always brought a little joy to me and my family, so bringing it into celebrations felt like such a natural fit. I loved the opportunity to take something familiar and nostalgic and give it a beautiful wedding twist. Weddings are filled with emotion, and sometimes a small, playful detail gives everyone a moment to laugh and connect. Candy and commitments, what could be sweeter?
What’s on tap for you for the rest of the year?
I’m looking forward to a season of celebrations, more creative moments with Ring Pop, and dreaming up what’s next. Whether it’s a wedding or a milestone birthday, my favorite part is finding the details that make it feel personal. And hopefully, somewhere in between, a little time to celebrate with my own family and the grandkids especially.
