Old Navy Rib-Knit Sweater and Midi Skirt I Editor Review

I love matching sets (who doesn’t?), but I don’t own many suitable for actually leaving the house this fall and winter. I have an Old Navy co-ord that I purchased over the summer for pool days as well as a waffle-knit loungewear set (also from ON, of course), but nothing suitable for date night or going out with friends — until now. Yup, the brand has officially stepped up its matching-set game with a Cropped Rib-Knit Mock-Neck Sweater ($30) and Fitted Rib-Knit Midi Skirt ($30). As soon as I saw how chic the model looked in both pieces, I added them to my shopping cart immediately. Check out my honest review on the matching set ahead.

What I Like About This Skirt Set

Both the sweater and skirt are made of a cotton–polyester blend that’s lightweight, soft, and stretchy. I dressed it up with my Old Navy Water-Resistant Tie-Belt Trench Coat, which matched perfectly, and tied it all together with a pair of berry-colored faux-croc knee-high boots for contrast. I was really pleased with the finished look, not only because I felt put together without having to try hard, but because both pieces felt super comfortable; not too tight or constricting.

What’s Worth Noting About This Skirt Set

One of the most important things worth noting about the sweater is that I’d say it’s more accurately described as a lightweight top, and it won’t keep you warm in cold temperatures. Secondly, as noted on the product page, it’s cropped, which means you may not be able to tuck it into your bottoms of choice if that’s your usual go-to. In that case, or if you have a long torso, you may want to consider ordering the “tall” version. Shoppers agree. One person who gave it a four-star rating said: “It hits JUST below the button of a pair of super high rise jeans I’ve got. I’m going to keep them regardless because they still will work for the office, but just a thought for anyone else buying!”

Who This Skirt Set Is Best For

This skirt set is best for those who love a matching set and are looking for a versatile option to style this fall and winter. It’ll look fabulous so many different ways, whether you wear both pieces on their own or under a blazer or trench coat. The same goes for shoes: the options are really endless. I think it’ll look just as cute with ankle boots as it will with a pair of high-top Converse.

Additional Details

  • Both the sweater and skirt come in sizes XS–4X.
  • It comes in black, cream, and tan.
