Here’s When Shameless’s Final Season Will Be on Netflix

After a decade, the final season of Shameless is finally here. Showtime’s family drama is currently airing its eleventh and final season, so when will the last season be on Netflix? Neither Showtime nor Netflix have revealed an official date yet, but based on history, we’re pretty sure there’s still a while to wait.

The arrival of season 11 on Netflix is basically dependent on when the season finishes airing on the linear Showtime network. Like many currently airing shows, however, there’s a pattern that we can follow to at least get some idea! There tends to be about a six-month gap between when the final episode of a season airs on Showtime and when the whole season arrives on Netflix. For instance, the previous season ended its Showtime run on Jan. 26, 2020, and the whole 10th season debuted on Netflix six months later to the day, on July 26.

The series finale of Shameless is currently scheduled to air on April 11. If the pattern continues one last time, we can then expect the entire final season to hit Netflix sometime in early to mid-November. At that point, you’ll be able to watch the entire saga of the messy Gallagher family, start to finish, all 134 episodes! Of course, all of this was actually supposed to happen last year: the final season was originally meant to film in early 2020 and air last summer, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, filming obviously had to be pushed back several months, moving the actual airdate to this year instead.

To accompany the final season of Shameless, Showtime also produced a miniseries of retrospectives that have looked back at each major character’s journey. Those aired from December 2020 through February 2021; there has been no official word yet on whether they’ll be part of the show’s streaming deal with Netflix, or if they’ll remain Showtime exclusives.
