The boxing match between Jake Paul and Gervonta Davis is going to happen, and it will be streamed live on Netflix in November, which is already a very awaited battle. This fight is full of excitement and controversy due to the personal rivalry that is exaggerated by the promotion and not only the sport’s overall rivalry.

Netflix has officially confirmed the fight, which is set for Friday, 14 November. The promotional video featured a lot of noise generated by the fans of both fighters who were talking about everything from Jake’s might and size to Gervonta’s speed and skill. One of the people in the video said, “Jake is a professional delusion,” and another replied, “Tank is an artist.” The video’s caption was very straightforward regarding the nature of the confrontation, saying, “it’s not just a fight. it’s personal.”
The comment area became a war room for predictions and opinions to be constantly exchanged. A great number of people did not believe one bit that there was any fight to begin with. One person did not hesitate to proclaim, “Another pay match set up? 😂😂” and this was exactly the feeling shared by many others who were not completely convinced about the impact of this boxing and influencer crossover—bringing them together has raised a lot of doubts. Another said, “It’s on Jake’s promotion aswell😂, he’s going to pay tank to throw the fight just like he did with Mike Tyson 😂,” which showed that the audience was not sure whether it was all for fun and not really a serious fight.
There were a few who had no hesitation in voicing that they were already rooting for Gervonta “Tank” Davis, the pro boxer who already has a solid reputation. “All my money going to tank Jake is a dummy what’s wrong with him,” one person said, which showed that he had faith in the superior boxing pedigree of Davis. Another comment even tagged the boxers and said, “@jakepaul, you ain’t seeing shit yet. @gervontaa gonna knock you out real quick…. No joke around.” This indicates that Davis is viewed as the serious fighter in the boxing ring scenario alongside the YouTube star-turned-boxer.
However, Jake Paul has also responded with a lively, confident, and typically brash retort to the comments. When asked “Who you got?” he replied “I got me. That’s who.” He followed with replies from supporters, one saying, “@jakepaul let’s go goat,” indicating that his loyal fan base is still fully behind him. One of the responses to his comment, however, asked: “@jakepaul is there a no knockout clause?” raising again the issue of doubt regarding the competition between the two fighters.
Not all were impressed by the hype, however. One user mocked the event in the comments section when they said, “This shit is so stupid 😂.” Others took a more cynical view and simply stated, “A fight for people who dont watch boxing or any combat sport lol,” thus suggesting that the event caters more to the casual viewers and is of no relevance to the purists of the sport. A more direct critic claimed that he would not watch the event because he did not want to “Garbage promote and pay real fighters.”
Nevertheless, there were still a lot of people trying to make a joke out of the whole situation. One person even commented, “I got you your dinner, steak with BearNaise Sauce, and mash potato and charred veg with a sweet pea and courgette puree 😂🔥 looking forward to the match, gonna bring my popcorn 🍿.” This funny way of looking at things is at the other end of the spectrum of the intense and sometimes negative reactions that have been shared but it also reminds them that for many at the end this is just a form of entertainment.
