Laz Alonso poured his heart out on Instagram about the end of an era, celebrating seven glorious seasons of ‘The Boys.’ Giving wide exposure to the end of the series, the actor, mostly known as Mother’s Milk from the Amazon series, shared a picture of himself fully clothed and in character, his face covered in fake blood—a representation of the raw nature that oozed into every bit of the show. His caption, ‘Paid the cost to be the boss!’ went massively viral, getting loads of love and nostalgia from genuine fans and friends within the circle.

Since this must be so emotionally charged for farewell territory, comments began to pour in from the co-stars and fans alike. Erin Moriarty, who portrays Starlight, left a heartfelt note, referencing their on-screen relationship: ‘To fathers and sugar forever and ever. Love you, lazcito ❤️.’ Even showrunner Eric Kripke joked about the absurd but beloved Love Sausage storyline: ‘Thanks for being an incredible sport when we kept writing Live Sausage into your story.’
Who knew an almost ready for a sorrowful goodbye? One fan confessed, ‘Is it bad me realizing this is the final of the show it’s making me emotional 😭,’ while another panicked about possible character deaths: ‘If MM dies I’m gonna lose my fucking mind.’ The speculation set off playful arguments in the form of replies, with one user rallying morbidly, ‘Somebody important has to die. Hopefully it’s Butcher 😂.’
Behind the jokes was genuine appreciation. Dorian Missick and Adrianne Palicki praised Alonso’s dedication, the former dubbing the show ‘epic,’ while the latter reminisced about 5 incredible seasons of hard work and fun. Also, members of the crew, including writer Eric Kripke, paid tribute to Alonso for being fun and very professional.
The image itself-Alonso, battered, solemn, and slick in his trademark leather jacket-was the grimly beautiful ode to The Boys. In other words, it was not a farewell to a single character but rather a salute to the shared spirit of a series. Alonso said: ‘We came, we saw, & we kicked ass!’
With the last season soon to drop, comments became a time capsule filled with memories, inside jokes, and bittersweet goodbyes. Whether Mama’s Milk makes it through is the last of Alonso’s concerns, his name forever etched into the chronicle of the show. Judging by the fan reactions, it may be a bit longer before they let go of him.
