The revered figure of country music Reba McEntire is set to visit New York City for a week full of extravagant and high-profile events. In addition, she will be starring on ‘The Today Show’ and ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ besides.

McEntire’s social media upload featuring a humorous airplane photo of her and her partner, Rex Linn, perfectly captured the excitement. The artist’s statement together with a part of the song: “It’s Christmas time in the city” was: “Up up and away! NYC, here we come.” The news was, of course, immediately recognized by her followers, who were, as always, quite excited about seeing her in the classic holiday characters’ roles.
The comments section was rapidly filled with messages of goodwill and love. A number of them commented on the brightness that the couple seems to emit. “Such an adorable couple, love to watch them,” one viewer expressed. Another went even further and simply proclaimed, “My favorite genre is Reba and Rex being themselves.” The last statement more or less summarizes how the fans appreciate the couple for their off-stage, authentic, and non-celebrity lives.
The comment section was open for joyous discussions about the holidays, while a couple of comments led the conversation to interesting fan ties and deeper personal connections. One commenter, for instance, came up with a family legend concerning their grandad and told a long and sentimental story. “I wish you would come to NWA. My dad went to every rodeo you sang at, he swore you were related to us. My maiden name is McEntire,” the user starting the comment said. The contributor then enlightened with a gentle punchline about their growing in a shadow: “dad would always say ‘That’s pretty good, but you ain’t no Reba’ I grew up trying to compete with a ‘cousin’ I’d never know.” This story illustrates a strong, sometimes even family-like, bond that McEntire has with her audience.
The fans’ reactions brought the debate on the surprising ordinariness of traveling celebrities onto the surface. It was the case that several netizens commenting on the post were very much taken aback that McEntire was taking a commercial flight.”She actually flys commercial!? Wow that’s a great surprise!” was the remark of one person. Another one questioned out loud with such a gentle and inquisitive tone, “You don’t have your own private jet???”. These remarks reflect a general curiosity about the stars living through the same everyday situations as regular people, which makes a public flight feel relatable and not very distant from the common public.
Neither did the humor run short. One of the fans mentioned McEntire’s sitcom past and made an amusing comparison. “That is the EXACT face you made in my favorite episode of Reba!! When Cheyanne catches you sneaking the ice cream when you’re all on a diet, you look up at her with the exact expression!!” This one remark showcases the extent to which her legendary TV role is, and will be, recognized and cherished among her fans even after many decades.
The lighting ceremony at Rockefeller Center that is to take place this Christmas is a public event that is highly regarded and, therefore, McEntire’s role as the presenter will place her right at the center of the cultural kick-off of the holiday season. The combination of her celebrity status and her continuing role as a coach on ‘The Voice,’ which one of the comments also referred to as the reason for their shout-out, is a testament to her enduring and varied presence in the entertainment world. Her recent viral kitchen moment further highlights this connection with fans.
